History or Lore please

I have become obsessed with this game and it's story(although I've not been doin the story, only wandering). I remember seeing a video from an early Fallout that had those Brothers guys shooting up a fallout shelter. That got me wanting to know all about it's history and lore. I wanna know all the stories for the earlier Fallout games, and everything else. Can someone send me somewhere to read up on it all? If anyone knows of any novels, or short stories written about the game, that would be nice too. Thanks. :)

Also, I wanna turn everyone that loves this game to a movie I found that reminds me of it. The game even makes references to this movie(Dog named Dog Meat. It's what the guy calls his dog in an argument.) It's called "A boy and his dog". Someone told me about it one day, and I am in LOVE with it. It is a little older, and a low budget film, but absolutely awesome. Especially if you enjoyed this game. PLEASE GO WATCH THIS MOVIE! The ending is amazing too. By far one of the best endings is a movie. If you don't enjoy the film, at least sit through it for the ending.

MINI SPOILER: When they make the reference to screamers, just picture them as ghouls. I'm sure as heck that's what they are.

I always thought Dogmeat's appearance in Fallout 1 was a reference to Mad Max.

It was. The Fallout series owes a great deal to the Mad Max movies, and was a primary influence on the devs..

Yeah, I just didn't want to outright claim my version of that encounter was the correct one. You can also see tons of obvious influence from Boy & Dog, even right down to the soundtrack.
