maybe a problem

I just started playing daggerfall, and I remember from the demo I was able to loot corpses.

But clicking on corpses is doing nothing for me.

And when I click on a chest it says "too far away" so i move closer but the cursor becomes a down arrow and I cant click on the chest anymore.

well, I figured out that alt will turn my head, but I still can't loot corpses

Might try crouching (default key is D) i order to get closer. (The "look down" key should also work when standing).

I find that the mouselook mode is generally more convenient than turning your head with the keyboard... and when you summon the cursor from that mode (default key Enter), you can click everywhere on screen. Or just turn your head directly at the corpse.

Ok, well that problem's resolved, but I have a new one. Might as well post it on this same thread.

I can't talk to the queen of Daggerfall.

I switch to info and it says, "you see queen so and so."

I switch to dialogue mode, nothing.

I switch to grab mode and grab her inappropriately, still nothing.

You need to speak to someone else first.

You need to speak to someone else first.

As in, I need a quest available in order to talk to her.

Because I was assuming it's like Arena, where you can talk to any king or queen at any time.

It's fine if it's not. There are plenty of quests available in the castle. I'm just making sure I haven't hit any major bugs, yet?

What should I expect regarding these infamous bugs and glitches?

I don't think you have to talk to anyone else first. I just started a game recently and when I saw your problem I went to Daggerfall (for the first time), talked only to Aubk-i, and got the normal Nulfaga quest. I've only been out of the starter dungeon 5 or 6 days and was lvl 4. The only requirement, as far as I know, is that you're level 3.

Yeah, I tried talking to her when I was out of the privateer's hold (obviously), but before I got the mysterious note. Spent the first two hours of the game trying to figure out why my compass was sideways and east was down.

Fixed that, found the castle, exhausted myself trying to talk to the queen, collapsed from exhaustion, got eaten by wild animals right inside the castle.
I LOVE this game.

I'm gonna double check whether I'm level 2 or 3 in a second.

Lol

You make it sound like there are wild animals roaming freely in the audience room. Which given the nature of the game, where danger hits you when you least expect it, is kinda funny and true.

I always imagined the world of Daggerfall as being excessively hostile to live in. I mean, let your kid go out at night in town to your neighbour, have it eaten by wild animals, orcs or Daedra.

Or you leave your back door open and in comes a bear, tiger, scorpion, dragon, or--even worse--the PC :D

I wonder - when I'm high level, every time I enter Castle Daggerfall I get those fearsome undead (usually wraith or vampire) screeches - how does the Royal Family cope with it? I mean, how do they sleep at night with a bunch of liches squeaking, screaming and casting spells just one floor below them? I guess it's magic :D.

Otherwise, I dunno. I certainly wouldn't like to live right above a dungeon full of monstrosities just a locked door away from you :P.

Or when you travel, and you're suddenly attacked by Zombies and whatnot. Guess we would all be dead.
