OOO difficulty issues

Post » Fri Sep 10, 2010 5:59 pm

Well, I installed OOO (and MMM if that makes a difference), jammed a few things into bashed patch, launched a game, and noticed something odd; its incredibly easy. I mean, when you start out as a prisoner, rats are a one hit kill, as expected. However, the Mythic Dawn assassins are two-hit kills with the flare spell (I'm a high elf mage). In the vanilla game, they were essentially gods and impossible to kill. I haven't played beyond the prison, though, so are they supposed to be weak there or did something fudge up in the installation that made all the enemies wimpy? I haven't fought anything besides them yet so I can't be sure.

You sure you installed correctly? Post a mod load order from Wyre Bash.

I'm sure its installed, because all the guards have the OOO armor and such. And tejon, I never had to adjust the difficulty slider last time because OOO automatically made battles much more challenging...but then again, maybe I'm just being stupid. :P

Well, I meant check it as in make sure it didn't get turned down at some point. ;)

I wonder if Alternate Start Advanced might make the assassins weaker? Don't see anything else in there that should be relevant.

Maybe...or perhaps it was just a preference of Oscuro to have the assassins not be super-powered. If you have OOO, you think you would mind starting a new game and shooting a couple flares at an assassin in the dungeon? For meee? xD

The assassins never gave me too much of a problem. COC to Vilverin and check out the fighting prowess there.

That. Don't judge OOO's difficulty by the tutorial dungeon. And are the Mythic Dawn assassins really "essentially gods" in the vanilla game? Granted, it was years ago I played vanilla but I can't remember them being particularly tough.

They wouldn't take any damage at all when I smacked 'em around in vanilla. D: Then again, it has been a little while. Anyways, problem (if there ever was one) solved. I can easily say this game is hard now. Very hard. Me likey. :P

Hehe... well, if you like that, then you might be interested in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26012 (when I actually play)...

Note that this requires you use a leveling mod which does not care about class skills. nGCD works with a slight configuration tweak (which is documented in nGCD.ini, because Got No Class is also bundled with it). Realistic Leveling and Kobu's should work in certain configurations; Oblivion XP might but I'm not familiar enough to say for sure. Wrye Leveling, ditto... might, might not. I believe SPAM will not work, as it builds on the vanilla leveling mechanic.
