well, i was going to go get some solar panel parts and i ran into "the lonesome wanderer" (the name may vary, cant remember exactly) and when i had a chat he said his dad left him, and shortly after his mom died he went out looking for him. he has yet to find him. i nearly told him to check the nearest purifier :shakehead:

See I thought he was just supposed to be like...the embodiment of the epic country song.

"The Lonesome Drifter" is involved in a quest line, pretty neat reference to FA3.

You should check out his magnum. It plays Western style music every time you draw and holster it. It's also the best player usable .44 gun in the game.

The guy, the weapon and his music and his story are all references to the Mysterious Stranger perk.

Are you talking about the guy with the guitar sitting by the billboard?

Not really an easter egg since he's involved in a quest line but there has to be some reference there.

I took it as the mysterious stranger was his father. His mother always told him that his dad was mysterious. And sometimes he seemed like a stranger.

Considering your character in FA3 was called "Lone Wanderer", I'm sticking to FA3 reference.

Yes, he is.

Exactly.

In addition to that, his weapon is called "Mysterious Magnum", and when he plays the guitar it sounds very similar to the music that plays when the Mysterious Stranger shows up.

First off, it would be FO3, not FA3. And you were the lone wanderer in FO3, not the lonesome drifter.

If it's a reference to the Mysterious Stranger, then how would it be a reference to the Lone Wanderer?

I didn't say I agreed with that.

Nor did he. He is a reference to the Mysterious Stranger, you just can't argue against that. Listen to him and you'll agree.

His name, of course, could also be a reference to the Lone Wanderer. Can't a NPC reference both the Mysterious Stranger and Fo3 at the same time? Would that be so bad?

By which I mean "I didn't say I agreed with the reference to it being the Mysterious Stranger".

And to the person above me, nope. Nothing wrong with a dual reference at all.

A Mysterious Stranger reference would be a FO3 reference right?

Mysterious Stranger has been around since Fallout IIRC.

IIRC?

Never played the originals, but plan on it when I get a laptop that actually has a cd drive.

He was in Fo2 at the very least. Only played Fo1 once when I was 9 or something.

But this reference just isn't complete without Fo3/FoNV, as there would be no song to be played when the Mysterious Stranger shows up, nor would we know his weapon is in fact a magnum.
