New race help?

Ok, so I'm trying to create a race that is like the vanilla vampire race in the aspect that you become it as kind of an add-on to your base race. It's kind of hard to explain, so I hope you understand what I'm talking about. I've looked for a few hours for how to do so, but I can't find anything. Anyone want to help me figure out the scripting or whatever it is I need to do?

P.S. I'm new at modding all by myself (Without steps to tell me what to do), so bear with me if I seem ignorant at times XD

I'm not sure if that's even possible. The Vampirism spell effect and the vampire race are, as far as I know, hard-coded, meaning that there's nothing we can really do to change how they work (or add more like them) without changing Oblivion's source code.

Adding or removing racial powers and abilities is simple. Hard part is changing appearance. However, I wonder if TalkieToaster's playable monsters might be a first step? If you want smooth changes rather than all-at-once, NifScript might also be able to help. I'm pretty sure this is achievable. Mind you, this won't be the easiest project! But it's probably not too much, if you feel ready to roll up your sleeves and really dive in to the CS.
