Steam = No Dev Console on PC?

Post » Sun Oct 03, 2010 11:18 am

IMO I don't really mind taking out it. Since I don't like cheating, but people use it for modding purposes and testing, so I am pretty fine with this and I encourage Obsidian to keep it 'cus I love the mods.

What about "cheating" to fix bugs? Like a quest script that doesn't fire properly, or when you sometimes glitch through terrain and get stuck in a wall?

The missing console in MW2 has nothing to do with Steam but with the fact that Activision and Infinity Ward want to control their product as much as possible.

Bethesda optimized this game for modding and that's why the console will be part of the game.

Jeez, I already explained that I meant that devs removed the dev consoles from their games when going on Steam, not that Steam enforces it. Read teh topic before you post :) At least what OP says before you try to correct what he already did by himself

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that a GECK was definately going to be included. The DEVs were talking about all the improvements that where made to the one used in Fallout 3. Anyways Valve fully supports the idea as they even have their own SDKs for their games.

When you press "~" ingame, you can type commands that can be considered as cheats. I use it for bug testing mod.
