Nymphs of Tamriel

So, after looking around the internet for a while, I wasn't really impressed by any nymph designs out there. Most are either (A) generic, beautiful women or (B) generic, beautiful women with fish features.

So what I'm looking for is a more original design, particularly for the nymphs that supposedly live on the tropical islands off the coast of Hammerfell. I do suppose there are other nymphs in other places, and from Greek mythology we know that there are many different types http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/godsandgoddesses/a/Nymphs.htm. Also worthy of note are the Spriggans, which we have seen in two prior games already and may provide some inspiration as to what nymphs could possibly be like in the Elder Scrolls world. Not that I want to see an ugly nymph (almost an oxymoron?) but doing something in a new way will be rewarding. I thought about, for example, a nymph design that draws inspiration from the jellyfish family (and perhaps other underwater invertebrates).

But really, you're drawing it so feel free to go any direction you want with this, should you be interested in drawing! Hell, with all the interest in Skyrim, maybe a nymph from that province would be cool? Assuming Spriggans don't dominate the place completely.

I'm an awful artist, but give me some time and I might put something up. Just wanted to get this topic in on the weekend, should it be Monday before I have anything worth posting.

The Spriggans are the closest equivalent ES has to forest nymphs, I reckon. And they often don't qualify as beautiful unless you are a tree-hugger or can appreciate the beauty of nature.

Either way, I am intrigued but likely won't have the time to take you up on the challenge. And since the nymphs of Greek mythology are essentially beautiful female demi-gods of nature, it's not surprising the generic designs you find. A Nymph with glacial features might be appropriate for Skyrim though, or a nymph with avian features.

Yes, I was aware of this. But the design of many creatures has changed over the course of the series. I'm certain that if Bethesda brought them back for TES V or VI, they would surely take this typical design and revamp it, with the intent to make an older idea more original and fresh to their audience.

Update: I've finding it difficult to convey my jellyfish-nymph in merely pencil. Looks like I'll have to break out the crayons.... :teehee:
