Black Horse Courier Book Reviews

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:46 pm

Why hello there folks. I'm brand new to the forums and I'm hoping this is the proper place to put this topic, because it would be mighty embarrassing if it were not. Anyway.
I have a Blog! I know what you are quite possibly thinking, "So what?" and it's a fair question. Who doesn't have a blog now adays? Fairly commonplace really. But, I'm hoping you'll give mine a chance once I explain it.
After playing through Oblivion with my 7th or 8th character, I decided I needed a quest other than the normal ones to keep me really interested, something that I set up and carry out intrinsically. I was skimming through the wiki and discovered the list of books that are so nicely compiled upon that site when it hit me: I should collect every book in Oblivion.
I set up a brand new character, printed off and color coded the list of books by location, and began my work. After a couple of months of only being able to play sporadically, I had almost completed my grand library, with only a few books left. Mostly random spawn and plot specific books. It was then that my older brother suggested to me that I do something with my newly compiled compendium of books; write reviews. I instantly loved the idea.
I set up the blog, began writing (as the book collecting character I had created) a story of my travels, and reviewed my first book not long after. I set myself up with a three times a week update schedule. (which I ended up breaking on a trip to Ireland) Now, the only thing I'm missing is readers.
While I do appreciate my seven readers, I would like more feedback from true Oblivion fans. If you like it, leave a comment on a post. If you don't, please tell me what put you off from it and I'll see if it's something I can work on.
I'd like to thank the forum as a whole in advance, you seem like a great group of people.

This is a really cool idea. I'll read more when I get on tomorrow. :)

Not bad, certainly something I have never seen, though I am so pretty new to this site :P

I'll read some more tomorrow or sometime but the Bruma Mages Guild thing was pretty intriguing.

I haven't read it properly and only skimmed over a couple of entries. Looks interesting and will definitely read more tomorrow!
If I can make a suggestion, though, it would be better to change the colour scheme and make the font bigger. I'm finding myself squinting and the white text hard to read, I don't know if anyone else has this problem, however.

Made a slight adjustment to the colors and font size. Let me know if it's enough or not. Thanks for the tip.
