Getting a modded land to show beyond a few quads LOD

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 10:28 pm

Before I go tinkering, is there a way to get Oblivion to display distant land beyond the vanilla settings. Mountains clip off half way when very distant, showing that only about 2,3,4 or so quads are loading in any direction. Anyone know which bit to re-set in the .ini?

is it fLodDistance

Oblivion.ini Tweaks - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/index.php?page=oblivion_ini_tweaks <-- The setting you are looking to change, unless you have lowered it below the default, I believe it is already maxed out. If you want to hide the cut-off, install Streamline. It adds a distant fog that will cloak the "end of the world".

Edit: See Arthmoor's quote at the bottom for the information you want.

That page doesnt seem to include the particular change I want to make, no change to distant trees, lights, buildings etc, just to the land, ie mountains, hills etc. They currently load a certain number of quads in any direction, I want to add a couple more quads.

I would guess that it might be

fLODQuadMinLoadDistance=65536.0000

No idea whether you can set it any higher though as it smells like a 1 byte restriction. But trying doesn't hurt.

fFadeDistance=12288.0000

is the one you need to change.

Hope it helps.

afaik the number of lod quads the game can load at the same time is limited whatever you tweak in the ini...don't know exactly how many quads but I guess the game has the mx by default

cheers

Its not the fade distance, its the load number of quads from the players location. I am going to tinker about a bit and report back with the results.
