OBSE mods and Steam Oblivion

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 4:28 am

I've done some research and it seems that OBSE doesn't work with the Steam version of Oblivion (which I guess is what is called a D2D version). Can someone confirm this fact (read: tragedy, since I've seen many mods requiring obse)?

I've found an interesting mod (Advanced Alchemy) that requires OBSE so I have a huge problem. Possible solutions are:

1) A version of Advanced Alchemy that doesn't require OBSE (yeah.. dream on...).
2) A version of OBSE that works with the Steam version (is it legal to dream of illegal things?)
3) A Miracle
4) Some astonishingly good alternative alchemy mod

Help? :)

OBSE does work with steam

quote from their site:
OBSE provides official support for:
...
Steam build 1.2.0.416 (in v0017b)

seems you can only use the v17b version, however maybe thats just a update error.....but im sure someone can confirm it.

OBSE works perfectly well with Steam. (Speaking from personal experience here--I've got OBSE running with several mods that require it; they all work fine. No voodoo required.) Download it and check the readme for the install instructions, as they're slightly different from the disc version.

http://www.direct2drive.com and http://store.steampowered.com are two entirely separate entities that both happen to sell Oblivion. The D2D version of Oblivion is the only one that doesn't work with OBSE, unfortunately, due to some copy protection issues.

Edit: Ninja'd. :D da mage, I think what the OBSE team means is that any version after v0017b works with the Steam version. I'm running v0018 myself.

I

L O V E

you.

I guess I took the "direct to drive" thing a bit too literally. I just found out about Steam yesterday, I got a copy (my dvd was gone and the price on steam was good) and I though that it really fitted nicely the definition of "d2d" xD
