It's a trap!

Post » Sun Oct 17, 2010 8:37 am

Hey everyone!

First of all i'd like to salute everyone, for this is my first post here

Well, the question is simple, what would you think about the possibility of setting traps you've previously crafted to face your enemies? Traps have already been used in TES, but they usually were placed by our enemies, and using those against them was a matter of luck more than skillz. So... that's it. I apologize for any mistake i may have commited (english is not my first language) and hope you like the idea.

See you!

As long as the AI can figure out that there are traps too, and like Akaryu said there are runes you can set.

Lol. Just watched the trailer for Centurion, and the general shouts "It's a trap," just like Admiral Ackbar.

Anyways...yea it'd be cool? But I doubt they have anything in place. They really need a system where if you have certain things (rope, knife, w/e) you could click on a tree or something and "Set Trap." Could be part of a larger free form crafting system, like in Minecraft.

Seems Ackbar is to much for me to handle... Anyway, as it regards a different -though related- topic it can be considered somehow a "new thread" ain't it? ^^

Traps would fit well into the security skill.

A bear trap is the best security.

Sure, same title slightly different subject matter. Both about traps but that about more obstacles for the PC and this one about well you know...

Hi, welcome, greetings.

Yes if handled well, the only game I've felt had a good handle on traps was baldursgate two tbh.
So if they can be used tactically, and practically yes.
Otherwise they'll just go to waste until modded.

but these are based on your destruction skill and since we can't build allrounders anymore my stealth/fight guy won't have good spells....
some assassin traps would be really nice and usefull

Magic mines! Just what i alwyas wanted in Oblivion. That sounds a lot like the "Glyph of Paralyzation" spell in Dragon Age.

I love Indiana Jones style booby traps in the environment that the player has to avoid.
I would love more opportunities for the player to trigger traps on enemies, eg: cutting ropes holding chandeliers, burning down scaffolding, (Dark Messiah type stuff).

I'm unsure of the player character laying traps for enemies, I reckon it would either be useless or overpowered with the player character dropping traps all over the place.

Since I believe climbing will not be in, my Khajiit Assassin will need something to gain some sort of field advantage and traps will be it. Hopefully traps are in, I would love traps!

I think I saw a mod for oblivion that had the traps like the Mace Trap and the like available for purchase. The only ones you couldn't do were the Alyeid spike pit and the rising wall gas chamber. But there was a motion sensor gas trap. It was awesome.
