Daggerfall Tank

Post » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:08 am

I was trying to make a "tank" character, basically a fighter that adsorbs a lot of hitpoints and moves slowly, as opposed to dealing a lot of damage, quickly.

I noticed that there aren't any skills governed by endurance, except for swimming, so I went with mostly strength skills, axe, long blade, climbing, and I threw in dodging just to try and make up for my low agility a little.

Anyway, my strength and endurance are in the 80's, but I'm a male redguard, so I guess that's -10 to endurance.

In privateer's hold I plowed through all the rats, bats, and bears, killing them in one hit. But anything with any agility, like any humanoids can conquer me pretty easily. It's like Morrowind, I'll miss a hundred times in a row.

My agility is 38 I think, and I was debating whether I should just focus on agility for the next few levels, or keep ignoring agility and bring up my luck which is high 50's/ low 60's, I forget right now.

It seems like it's hard to have a low-agility character in daggerfall.

Agility determines how often a character hits and dodges, so it is important. Speed is the skill that determines how fast you move and how fast you swing your weapon. Having a low agility isn't a good idea for any melee warrior, no matter how endurant they are. I strongly recommend increasing your agility.

Contrary to popular belief, your race does not affect your attributes at all.

Also, if you are having trouble hitting things, thrust more! Thrusting has the best hit chance, but less damage.

Yeah races don't really matter.

Except when you want to milk the best attributes possible for your particular class.

But there's really no restrictions, otherwise - you can make a High Elf thief and he'll be as nimble as a Khajiit, or a Khajiit mage and so on; this is what is quite missing in the later games, diversity. You always pick up this and this template, which is canned for this or that class.

So what do you think, then?

Luck or Agility?

Just take Agility. Luck usually just base on what ya get in the looting system.
