(...)But despite all this there is *something* about TES that no other games (Even great rpg's like BG, PS:T, DA) have. (...)
There should be the word "OTHER" between "Even" and "great". I was never able to sink into games like BG, PS or DA. First game from the sort that caught me was Jade Empire and then Mass Effect. With TES it was different. I started with Morrowind and played it on my first own PC, got Tribunal, then GotY, but never finished Bloodmoon (my character was too powerfull and it was no longer fun). Tried playing Arena, but was unable to enjoy the game being spoiled by pretty 3D graphics. Then Oblivion came and I can't say I haven't liked it, but it was still a huge disappointment, since it was very cliche in its attempt to be more like core european fantasy (when original TES was almost complete opposite, I still can't get over how they turned Cyrodiil into a woodland). After that I started playing Daggerfall (around that time it was released for free) and I come back to it every now and then, but still haven't finished it. I would really like to have a chance with the other TES games, especially Redguard, hopefully they'll release them in some time the same way they did with DF.
About experience - I was in totall awe for Morrowind, for me it defined the way I looked at all other games and it still does. I liked the other games, but I guess it usually is the first game in series you play that captivates the most. TES are not perfect, true, but for me they are as close as any game ever got.
