Powerful magic mods

Post » Thu Oct 28, 2010 2:19 pm

I'm looking for a mod which will make magic powerful, for a deadly and vicious too-big-ego mage character who has many tools to trick, deceive and suprise enemies, not just hundreds of same bullet spells just differently labelled as 'shadow bolt', 'fire bolt' etc. but also things like enhancing mage's staff to lightning speed, create illusions and who knows what else. Indeed I'm looking for a challenge, so someone with such fast reflex as I can really 'dish out' spells and literally flash and blink around the battle.

I'd like someone's opinion about balance of such mod - will eg. Deadly Reflex 150% or 250% damage addon fix things up? So those poor sworders aren't too weak and can be deadly as well.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1085924-relz-wip-fearsome-magicka/ and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9562 to provide new/interesting spells and spell combos. I'd also suggest http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12466 and/or http://theelderscrolls.info/?go=dlfile&fileid=219 as a general balance mod.

As for fighters, I'd suggest Deadly Reflex combined perhaps with 150% if that's your cup of tea. As is, you'll already be surprised the first time you try to cast a spell against an agile character with DR on :P

Doesn't Fearsome Magicka conflict with LAME or SM? I have LAME + SM installed now, but I've read that it isn't what I'm looking for. Though, I haven't tried it yet, lol.

+1 for the original Mighty Magick when it comes to powerful magic. It's insane - in a good way. I think there's a mod making the spells in Midas Magic on par with Mighty Magick, so that might be a good combo.

I've read somewhere that Mighty Magick is old, outdated and unsupported.

Sorry for Fearsome Magicka post though, it's compatible with all, but I'm wondering how does it work with other mods, for example: Fearsome Magicka + LAME + Supreme Magicka + Midas?

And what about this Mighty Magick? I read here:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14336

...that there's different system of using mana, that huge pool is more important than regen (as there is no mana regen whatsoever). But, on the other hand, Mighty Magick might be a bit overpowered versus Midas spells. And it doesn't work with other magic mods.

Now, important part: if anyone has read Witcher series (books, not games, or whatever), I'm looking for the magic 'system' that was in the books' world, exactly. Damn, it's hard to explain this right now, I've gotta go, and there isn't much information about this on Google either, or I don't have enough time to look for it ATM.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is compatible, and some of the spells are really powerful and unique. The thing is:

enemies get them too (you can disable this in the ini)
You have to buy them
there's 22 spells
There's skill and level requirements for the spells (I think you can make these restrictions less severe in the ini)
You can only use certain spells a certain amount of time in a six hour period. (I think you can make these restrictions less severe in the ini)

So if you're looking to start out with some totally awesome spells that you can spam for hours, and never fear them being use against you.... Yeah, it may not be right for what you want.

It is old and unsupported. But old doesn't necessarily mean outdated. If it isn't broke, why fix it.

EDIT: Also, I meant the original version of Mighty Magick - not the 2:nd with stunted magicka.

Stunted magicka? huh what?

About Fearsome Magicka - do I need some .ini files in order to make it work with LAME, SM, Midas, DR, UV? You know, so it's balanced... I think it's what I've been looking for, though Mighty Magick looks very interesting too, I have doubts on how it works - coz, there's MM and MM Reborn (obse version, or whatever)?.. Which one you mean?

The reboot of Mighty Magick featured non-existent regen (stunted magicka). The original MM is still good stuff, and the first magic mod I used. Fearsome magic (and Midas too) works out of the box with SM and LAME. They both feature new spells and spell mechanics, whereas SM and LAME are rebalances + tweaks + added features to the existing magic system. Midas features some very powerful spells, but this is offset by the fact that these spells are relatively hard to obtain. Fearsome will pit said spells against you intelligently--some magic wielding bosses will be very powerful.
