Changable Shouts

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:08 pm

Hello to all first let me apologise i am aware my spelling/punctuation svcks so please bare with me.

i just had the thought that it would be cool if we had the ability to mix and match part of our dragon shouts. as far as we currently know we can find pieces of shouts from slaying dragons and finding them on ancient walls. so what i would love to see is the ability to change what part of the shout we say I.E istead of saying fus'ro'dah meaning force change push I.E throw backwards why not allow us to say slow fire push allowing you to slow the enemy down set them on fire then throw them backwards considering theres around 60 (or so i heard) shouts to aqquire i think there would be plenty of room for variation to choose from and beileve if no one at BTHS has thought of this it would be a missed oppertunity. thoughts?

P.S sorry again for my bad english and if you do not fully understand what i am trying to say. LONG LIVE SKYRIM :mohawk:

As I understand it, there are 20 shouts (of 3 words each) and 60 words. I'm not sure how that's going to work out, but it does seem a pity there aren't 60^3 shouts generated based on the words and order of words.

oops my bad lol well i think that should still give us enough variation to be able to create our own? i know the PC crowd will probably do this via mods as well as mod in a few more shouts but i just think it miss's out on give the player a bit of extra freedom that all other TES games employ.
P.S thank you for the replie(s)

I agree, creating a system of words and then only having 20 shouts seems... rubbish, really. There's so much potential in having, 60 words that all mean different things, and then building the effect on the fly rather than pre-defining 20.

Well from what I have seen it is like each word adds a level of strength to the shout. So if Force push was "Fus' ro dah", then "Fus'" would be the first part you learn, and be level 1. Then you learn "Fus' ro", which is stronger than just "Fus'" and finally you get "Fus' ro dah" which is the most powerful. I guarantee someone will make combinable dragon shouts as a mod (I probably will lol), but it being vanilla would be better.

^^^ thats true if you tap the Y button i beleive (on the x box at least) and you will say the first three letters FUS hold it slightly longer and your say six of the letters FUS DO and longer still the wole sentence FUS DO RA my argument isnt how manyt shouts/words there are but with the fact that even with only a small amount of shouts the fact that each one does something different I.E summon mount slow time throw enemy back theres plenty of ways to allow us to mix our shouts and come up with inventive ways to deal with single/groups of enemies.

The only way i'd want more than the 20+ shouts in the vanilla game is if we couldn't obtain them all in a single play through.
