I have to say, after playing oblivion for more than a full 52 days (like a bajillion hours) in total , my favorite moment was when i was but a lowly Khajit thief walking to Bravil. (it's been a few years so bear with me if i get a couple details wrong)

I happened to be out of potions and I wasn't very magically inclined. I heard the calls of a troll in the woods and turned to see him booking it my way, mad as a gorilla with the rage virus! So, knowing at the time that I was in NO shape to fight him, I ran AS FAST AS I COULD (which was only a fraction faster than that troll) to Bravil hoping that a guard could surely save me, regardless of my status as a bit of a nefarious type. So I ran and as I did I also happened to run past a will-o-the-wisp who suddenly went invisible, you know that's not good. I knew my chances of being saved were getting slimmer by the moment but I finally caught up to the door and a guard ran to my rescue. Valiantly attacking the troll like a good meat shield he screamed and swiped at the beast with his steely blade while I, knowing he couldn't take them both by himself, backed him up and swung wildly with my silver sword hoping to find the invisible lurking Will-o-the-wisp with it. I hit the bastard and pressed the advantage, finally killing it. As I turned to see how the guard was doing i saw him take a haymaker to the face and down he went. There I was again, broken, tired and still being chased by a damn troll so I grabbed the guards stuff and ran into Bravil. Safe.

I ended up selling the guards stuff and when I went back outside a game day later that angry freak was still out there hooting and hollering for blood. Terrified, I ran back into Bravil, prepared myself with the little amount of money i got from the guards stuff and went out there to finish that goon off. Needless to say, I won.

That ended up being one of the most exciting things that randomly happened to me, it was an epic struggle to stay alive and what a blast to actually feel comradre and loss for a guard that died only trying to defend me.

If the next elder scrolls had random encounters like Fallout 3 did I would never stop playing, seriously, the cops would find me in my room dead with a controller in my hand wondering what went wrong after a neighbor called in the strange smell.

I would LOVE to walk down a road and see a few necromancers fighting off a pack of wolves. I would REALLY REALLY LOVE to see a couple of knights fighting a group mouraders while a Minitour lord, who thinks they've gotten too close to his maze, runs out to kill them all in a mad flurry of violence and tragedy. That's what I want more than anything, random encounters.

What do you think about random encounters? What would you like to see when it comes to random encounters in TESV? How would you impliment them? What creatures would make an awesome encounter for you? Would you like to see humorous ones as in fallout 3 or would you stick with more serious things? Would you like to see goblin wars occur at random or assaults on town guards by monsters from outside of towns? If there are open town's, would you like to see beasts make there way in only for guards to run up and defend the civilians? Would you have leveled encounters? Would you allow random encounters to occur during missions or in specific locations? What would YOU do?

Haha, yeah I've done something like that a few times in Oblivion. In fact, doing the quest for the Fighter's Guild where I had to infiltrate the Blackwood Company, when it came time for the Blackwood Company to find out and attack me, and I discovered I could never win, I ran outside and let the people and guards of Leyawiin take care of them for me. It was pretty fun, and Leyawiin looked like a war zone for a while after that, what with all the corpses lying around.

But yeah, the more random encounters the better, imo. They were great in Fallout 3 and I'm sure they'd be great in TES V.

I once stumbled upon two Imperial gaurds firing arrows at each other in a field, with a string of dead deers inbetween them. Not very exciting but hilarious.

Then there was a time in Oblivion where I had just started my first marksmen character and was walking in the woods, came upon some bandits they started attacking me, I ran out of arrows so I booked it to Leyawin. On the way there I ran into some more bandits. From the crossfire of arrows, all aimed at me, one of the bandits hit another one and the bandit groups started attacking each other.Needless to say i looted the dead bodies until 2 low healthed Kajit bandits remained, after they fought it out, with one swipe of a blade I took out the last one.Was never so happy to find enemies in any TES game

The random encounter system from Fallout 3 would be great in ESV.

I just thought it was such an amazing feature that nobody seems to talk about and I worry that it won't be implimented into Skyrim.

I once walked from bravil to leyawiin, only to stumble upon the remains of a huge fight, among the fallen were a dead horse, a dead guard, and some random person. Stuff like that was awesome, it felt like the world didn't just center around you, stuff happened while you weren't there.

One thing like that happened to me - I was riding back to the Imperial City from Bruma, on Prior Maborel's Paint Horse. I decided to take a shortcut, and accidently went to that castle south of Aleswell (Zero Visibility). Whereupon me and my horse got attacked by invisible wolves.

I got off my horse, and started whacking them with my mace, but they were too strong, and too many, so I made the split-second decision to get back on my horse who was on about 2 health. I then rode away as fast as I could, as I knew the guards could take care of them when I got back to the Imperial City.

Eventually I got there, and a guard ran after the wolves, but didn't manage to hit them. So he kept running after them. I then ran into a stable, got off my horse and went to close the gate - but the wolves got through, and attacked my horse. this sent it into a panic, and it ran away, the owner of the stable and the guard chasing them. I ran after them too, but they were too fast, and I lost sight of them over a hill. I didn't give up though, and I ran as fast as I could, got over the hill, and the next sight was very depressing.

The guard sheathed his blade, and walked away, with the owner of the stable. Where they were standing were two dead wolves, and one dead horse.

That was the single saddest thing to happen to me in an Elder Scrolls Game.

Oh, I love the random encounters. What if they did something crazy, like a space craft fly over head, or a comet rockets down from the sky and crashes near by, only to out pour a number of strange creatures from somewhere else that don't show up anywhere in the game and you must fight. The comet might be like a Gold or Silver veins and have tons of hunks of gold/silver. Idk. It would be pretty cool though to have random encounters.
