ideas for new perks

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:17 pm

oh wait, I got a couple,
Where did you put that Mini Nuke? - gives the player a chance to find Nukes in random bins
(useful becuase there is only a set number of nukes in the game)

Nuclear Master (High Level) you are unaffected by radiation until severe rad poisoning.

Avenging Angel- Much like the Mysterious Stranger of the previous game, The Avenging Angel appears when you least expect it and rains fire on all of your enemies... but at a price (he/she takes one of your valuables, usually a unique gun or such)

No there isn't.

I can haz Mini Nukes?

And no meme's. This isn't Borderlands.

We have mysterious stranger. Let's keep him.

fine... here's another

MMA Fighter- your unarmed skill is increased 10 and you can do a takedown, knocking your opponent off their feet and paralyzing them. (no requirements nessicary)

Paratrooper - you can survive higher drops and have mastered the art of shooting while falling.

Smelter- you can convert scrap metal into bullets

I got a couple ideas for perks that could be used

Ghouls Delight- When you select this perk different dialog options appear if you talk to a ghoul (Similar to Child at Heart without the kiddy stuff)

AP Overload- AP meter recharge rate is doubled but you take double damage from Energy Weapons.

Weapons Training- Requirements 6 STR, 6 AGL, LV 16, Increase Guns, Energy Weapons, Melee, and Explosives 10 points

Terminal Overload- Explosives Requirement 75, If you successfully hack a terminal you can convert that terminal to blow up if someone steps within 1 meter of the computer

Harbinger Of Mutents- Do 25 % more damage against Ghouls and Super Mutents

Not pissed off.
But fallout isn't the type of game who has silly stuff from internet meme's in it.
It's something that fits Borderlands or Postal which are games that are completely all about the "lulz".

no to ap overload and ghouls delight. ghouls delight will take to long to intergrate into the game and ap delight has a downside. the rest are good

again, 'scuse me, I fixed it, happy now? :P
alright,
I thought of another one though,

Hellraiser- (requires evil karma) You have made a deal with Lucifer and now do +100% more damage with Fire-based Weapons, at the cost of being unable to use and small guns and most energy weapons (big guns are unnaffected)

Solar Flare- when in direct sunlight all nearby enemys find it harder to hit you, and take constant (if very little) damage

Edit- yes, Gapho, there is a downside, but I think for doubled damage it balances it, tell me what you think I should do for it as better balence then

Not really.
Ghoul Delight can work just fine.
But AP Overload sounds like a trait more than a perk.

Coragno Hellraiser is kinda too powerful and sounds more like a trait than a perk.
A perk is meant to only have upsides (IIRC) while traits have upsides and downsides. ;)

We have mysterious stranger. Let's keep him.

That and the Mysterious Stranger doesn't steal my valuables.

EDIT: Perks shouldn't really have a downside hence being a "perk" if the Avenging Angel is going to steal your stuff for helping you whats the point when you can take the Mysterious Stranger perk where he won't take your stuff?

alright, alright, fair enough, but I still believe that the Mysterious Stranger, or whomever you call him, should at least attempt to attack more than one enemy, and I was thinking not just in VATS, but he/she litteratly appering out of nowhere and sticking around for a bit, I think this perk needs some kind of balencing mechanism, since this all powerful "Avenging Angel" was gunna have like a super Fat Man or something along those lines I was thinking.

EDIT: ok, maybe it's only available to neutral characters or very good characters, not both, but one of them. Hows that?

I got a couple more ideas for perks

Cow Herder- Requirement PER 5, Brahamin when killed will have a special horn on them that can be sold to a certain merchant, identity of the merchant will be revealed when this perk is selected.

Drug Addict- Requirements END 6, Medicine 50, LV 12. Chems effects will double in length, Adiction rate, and power

Sniper Shot- Requirements Guns 80, Agility 7, LV 14. If you kill someone with a Critical Head Shot your AP meter recharges to full.

Cap Collector- Requirement LV 20, Every enemy that you kill will have 5 bottle caps on them.

Killer Of The Wasteland- Requirement LV 30, Your health regenerates 5 HP per second and when you wear Power Armor your DT goes up by 10

what is with your obsession over downsides? haha
remember that we are doing this for fun, no need to get so friggen technical.
it's not like these perks are actually going to make it into the game.
on that note:

Obliteration - all explosion radias is doubled and damage is increased 50%

The Edge- You are now a master of living on the edge, your health is halved but all damage is doubled and your AP is increased 50

I wish the mysterious stranger was like in the old games.
Just popping up and helping you out.
Maybe it should be like this, that every time you go into battle there is a 10% chance he/she will spawn in a leather armor wearing a unique SMG.
Nothing overpowered.
After the battle is done he/she will disappear until the next time.
If you kill him/her the body will disappear.
He/she can still be attacked by hostile NPC's and killed.
Once killed it will take an in game week before he/she starts showing up again.

I didn't like that he was an instakill and rather poorly implemented character in fallout 3.
Should show up more and be less powerful.
