You don't have to give the digger all at once. Anything you give him will go towards the shortcut.

Ah, across multiple playthroughs too?

Yeah. Just pay in what you can every time you reach a new zone, and once you hit the 100.000 mark for that zone the shortcut will be built.
As for the kissing booth, like with the stores the price increases per level. 20.000 for a life I don't think is unreasonable at the start, as long as you don't have the Kapala. Equipment, especially at the start, is almost always worth the price. You'll probably need it to get very far, and things like the climbing gloves will allow you to reach places (and treasures) you couldn't otherwise.

I don't find things like the bow, pitching mitts or those spectacles (especially if you get the Udjat Eye) to be very handy, but things like spring boots, climbing gloves, a cape (or better: jetpack), sticky bombs, a gun (or better: shotgun), etc. are really useful. And you can never have too many bombs and ropes.
The teleporter is handy too, but I always end up killing myself with it :P

The wand you find in area 4 is quite handy. The method of acquiring it is pretty easy too.

Tip for folks in the jungle. If you get the special level with the graves all over, look for a grave marked "Ash" and bomb it open to receive his boom stick.

[censored] [censored] ARROW TRAPS

They are ALWAYS placed close enough to be set off but far enough away to arc down and hit me.

So very true :cold:

I figured out that killing shopkeepers only makes them appear at the end of every level after that :(

So far I've managed to make it through the forest once, only to die from a snowbeast a few seconds later. Tunnel guy, where are you? :P

If you make it through to the next part once, the Tunnel man will appear the next time you do it.

The snowbeasts are annoying, you get too close and you get thrown off of the ledge and into oblivion, and the spaceships explode when you kill them, and usually kill you too.
I don't really like the ice cave in general

Damn, I made it all the way from level 1 to level 5, ending up with 7 HP and around 50000 gold, and then I fell into groundspikes.

I almost made it to the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-0Zw9m_PN0 once...I don't remember how I died, but I had gotten all the items necessary(udjat, black market ankh, special ice level thing, and the wand), I even remember seeing the pedestal you have to activate before I died...probably crushed by one of those directional thwomp things. Given how difficult it is to do all that crap, you can imagine I was very frustrated...

I've killed Olmec and escaped several times though.

I finally finished the shortcut to the ice caves. Is it just me, or are both the ice caves and the temple way easier than the jungle?

I agree with you, the jungle still gives me hell compared to the caves and temple.

Thanks! :hehe:
