Forum login, broken?

Post » Sun Nov 07, 2010 7:45 pm

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. When you login to the forum and have remember me checked, it used to last a while. However now it seems to last only 24 hours or so and you're logged out again, bit annoying.

Why would you want to stay logged in here for more than a day anyways?

Try deleting your cookies.

It's not being logged in, it's the having to log back in every day that's annoying. I assume.

I have to log in every 10-15 minutes. For some reason I'll refresh the page and it will randomly log me out

I hacked your account. :ninja:

Mine signs me out every time I log in on another computer.

Doesn't happen on my end. I am logged into here almost 24/7. Kinda sad now that I think about it. Convenient either way though.

Happened to me before (logins lasted a day or so), but hasn't for a while now. I've been auto-logged in for ages now.

Clearing your cookies -- and ensuring that nothing's deleting the cookie, like a disk cleanup application -- is probably a good place to start though. Perhaps check that your browser settings haven't changed.

You know when people's thing says "Currently" and it says "Not Online"

It's basically "AFK". But it logs you out every 10 minutes if your inactive.

Not for me - I very rarely have to log in if I am away from the forums. The only time I do is if I change browser.

It does seem fairly random that some experience the problem and others don't.

The weird thing is, I can leave the page open for 10 minutes or so, refresh it and it will be fine, about 60% of the time but there there are time when I will log in and go to reply to a thread and it will say I don't have the privilege, that I have to log i again even though I just did 30 seconds before.

Same thing for me, though it's not quite that severe. Seems to be completely random, sometimes I go a day without it happening at all and then it's three times in an hour. Weird.

Wonder if it might be due to a person's IP address changing? Sometimes cookies are tied to an address, other times not; if they are, that might explain why some people see it and others don't: perhaps the latter have static addresses. No idea if that's actually the case, though: just thinking out loud, really.

That's happen to me now and then. Besides that I don't have a major problem with that except when I try to post during the ordinary forum server update (http://timezoneguide.com/). :user:

I rarely have to log in. About the only time I do is when I delete my history, which is usually a couple times a week. I have had to log back in after being on the forum on a different computer.

So you don't have to retype everything when you come to the forums.

It does that too me. I'll be randomly scrolling a page, logged in, then click reply and it says "You must be logged in to perform this action" or something like that, and it logs me out. Quite annoying.
