Skyrim on Next Gen Nintendo?

Besides, companies have become familiar with current generation consoles, they know how to push the system and produce stellar results. Forcing another system on us like this would not only force consumers to shell out money in a harsh economic downturn, but would also force development companies to return to the drawing board again and program blindly using new tech.

The Wii is really more capable than what people give it credit for. The problem is how it's been underutilized and treated as an afterthought by developers. A lot of Wii games manage to look worse than Gamecube games which is quite a feat of neglect. Initially most publishers and devs wrote off the Wii as a failure when it was announced, but its huge mainstream success took them by surprise. Multiplatform titles made for the Wii typically got very small budgets and manpower, sometimes even with PS2 devkits. Activision of all companies managed to get their act together after a while and put some more effort into their Wii titles. You can see that Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension for example doesn't look that bad compared to the 360 and PS3 versions.

Except at the end of the day the Wii is only capable of 720x480 resolution, and the 360/PS3 are 1280x720.

I'd really like to see Skyrim released on a future Nintedo console. If the console has any of the innovations of the Wii I would love to play one of my favourite game series on it, even if I'd probably get the PC one first. Bethesda would also be opening their game to a huge new market and I think it's something they are definetly considering if they aren't already.

Probably a Kinect style Nintendo. WHO WOULD WANT TO PLAY SKYRIM ON A WII REMOTE OR KINECT?

Me. Just try and deny that motion sensing sword swinging wouldn't be fun. I think Nintendo get a lot of stick for their motion sensing controllers but at the end of the day they only had a few buttons less than a standard gamepad and if developers didn't want motion sensing on their games they wouldn't add it. Don't forget either about the classic controller or the ability to use a gamecube control.

Sure it is. They needed that extra market share then but not now.

Why would they drop the opportunity to open their game to a whole new market, even if they don't desperately need it. If the hardware is similar it can't be too much of a leap.

It has more to do with fiscal responsibility than that. Microsoft and Sony gamble (and Sony was in deep trouble for several years due to the PS3). Nintendo doesn't gamble on hardware.

Lolwut? Are you seriously saying that Sony and Microsoft took a bigger gamble than Nintendo?

IGN said today that their sources reported the Wii2 might be out as early as mid-October, thats definitely early enough for 11.11.11... it's probably a bit unrealistic to start going down where that road leads though :geek:

I'd be pretty enthusiastic about seeing Skyrim on Wii2 though, especially if they did something unique with the built in touch screen on the controllers

Easily. It wasn't fun in Twilight Princess, and all you had to do in that game was shake the controller. I can't imagine how tedious full-blown swordplay would be in a Bethesda game.
