Will this game suffer the fate of Crysis 2

Post » Fri Nov 19, 2010 3:29 pm

Lag completely ruins games for me... I'm planning on buying a new router, but I used to play AVP multiplayer, and I got SO angry.... You could walk around a corner, see someone there, press the assassinate button, and all of a sudden they would be across the map, and then YOU would get assassinated... I was really dissapointed from that game... Hopefully Brink has good multiplayer...

Dedicated servers are not in Brink. It will be P2P on all platforms.

Until we play the game ourselves, there is no possible way we could know about the connections online.

Dedicated servers are in for the PC.

Crysis 2 turned out to have very vanilla multiplayer imo. It brought a few things to the table, with the suit enhancements, and holo projection, but overall, everything was more of what we've already seen in the genre. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazingly good either.

IMO

Crysis wasnt exactly a shining beacon of success, and being backed by EA just didnt help their case. Infact, Crysis 2 symbolizes everything wrong with PC games today. As a console shooter its actually pretty good. It works alright, though it does have some kinks, and the controls are obviously well setup to be played on a system. However, you go over to the PC version of the game, and its painfully obvious they did an ultra [censored] console port, which is exceedingly disappointing being a game that was a benchmark for other PC games. Blame EA for that. They didnt even TRY in the least to optimize it for PC. The mouse configuration is absolute [censored] and you cant change w/o modding the shortcut, you have no way to control your graphics settings with out a second party external program, and its WAY over simplified because having Crysis 1 style of control would have been too much for a controller (which was obvious if you ever tried it with the 360 pad).

Crysis 2 was just a sloppy, "in for the money" game that was rushed with a [censored] port. Brink was made by people who actually care about the work they do, and backed by people who also care about the things they produce, so comparing the two is kinda insulting.

As far as lag in Crysis 2, i had some, but i fixed it by getting rid of their crappy blur effect that made it so i couldnt see squat if i was moving. And as far as the servers go, there arnt any "official" servers. Everything is run by random people hosting it, so blame them. Or blame EA for not hosting their own game. But would you expect them to? Theres no profit in supporting a game that doesnt make money after its been sold.

You people denying any lag or hit detection in C2 are deluding yourselfs, the mp is an horrendous mess and beyond frustrating.....my fear is the Brink will indeed follow suit, this game deserves dedicated servers on console!

Well it's not being run by EA, so we shouldn't have too much to worry about.

I think that most game developers learned from MW2 when they decided to forgo dedicated servers for the PC version and all the people on their forums including me who did nothing but [censored] until BFBC2 came out. Dedicated servers are the best way to keep people from hacking because with dedicated servers you can have mods who kick and ban people. Not to mention I love having one or two favorite servers where I know most of the people I play with after a while. It helps to build a community of sorts which makes the game that much better.

Its all about the lag with you isnt it? Everytime I see one of your posts its about how 'Brink is doooooooommmeed!!'. Your logic is if it doesnt have dedicated servers its awful and will ruin everything everywhere. :stare:
Stop sprouting your doomsday junk and WAIT til you've actually played Brink. :3

And to the guy saying "lag doesn't break games" - compare Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood before the patch that came out right before the latest DLC, and after.

For some reason people keep telling me my opinion is wrong. Weird.

I said I in my opinion I haven't seen bad lag in Crysis 2 or others for that matter, and I personally do not believe lag breaks games.

Lag can be from anything from your router to how many ppl are connected to your wireless network to. As a xbox 360 user I feel if you use I wire connection vs a wireless one it does not lag for me at all I hope the same with this game as well.

Actually, if it's coded right, dedicated servers or not you can have a perfect game.

The netcode of any game depends on the developers talent in that regard, most developers just don't have it.

Am I the only one who likes Crysis around here?

I'm in the middle of playing Crysis 2's SP campaign and have been enjoying it. (Crysis 1 and Warhead were good as well.)

to even say that means youve never had to deal with extreme lag issues.... lag makes games unplayable since you wont be doing anythin except skipping across the map or trying to shoot players that arnt really there or getting killed randomly.

if you didnt experience lag issues with crysis 2, you are very lucky.

Lets hope not, Crysis2 is [censored] garbage and Crytek should be ashamed of themselves for the way they have ran their company. Never have I seen on any system such a terribly buggy/laggy piece of [censored] on release day than with Crysis2 for the 360. Beyond that, They still haven't done anything to fix the game. It's just as bad as it was on release day with not a single word from Crytek on whether or not they are even working on fixing the game. So pathetic.

Crysis2 has made me skeptical of release day purchases forever. I'll pick up brink after seeing how the community responds to the MP experience.

Your welcome.

haha. What's wrong with a brief little bash of a [censored] game developer on a competitors forum? Well nm, Crytek is so terrible that it's hard to really consider them competition.

Brink looks promising tho... I don't think it will have as many problems as crysis2 and they don't have stealthers running around everywhere. From all the videos online it seems that they really care about Brink and aren't going to rush out some [censored] product which is what crysis2 ended up being.

Crytek is a good developer with good workers. Although they did work a great deal and tried hard to make the game good, I'm rather disappointed.

Brink has dedicated servers for the PC version, and P2P for both console versions.

I play Crysis 2 for PS3 on a regular basis (that was, until PSN got hacked into oblivion), and I only lagged once or twice. So I really don't see the big deal.

You were very lucky, then.

The two arguments I have deduced so far are that Crysis 2's multiplayer is very generic, and that CryTek has not solved the lag issues that plague many other gamers. A generic MP is kind of a standard these days, but lag is the difference between life and death, literally, and it ruins a multiplayer experience if the game cannot complete what you've told it to do.
