An FAQ for Skyrim?

Post » Sun Nov 21, 2010 2:03 am

So yeah, I keep hearing frequently asked questions here in the fourm, and I can't help but feel that we need a FAQ to stop all this. I would do it myself, except if I did it it would be rubbish.

No I don't think we need a FAQ, if your interested in the game spread your wings, look around for what you can find. if you can't manage that. oh well.

There won't be any official FAQ, besides some very basic stuff near the release, like the release date and the PC game requirements and so on.

An unofficial FAQ isn't the way to go either, as game journalists and fans easily misinterprete things and end up spreading faulty information.

Yup pretty much. The devs wont make one soon and player made FAQs are bad ideas. :goodjob:

Even if there is too much repetition, there are rarely two completely identical threads so I think just a better understanding of the search bar would be more important.

I voted nope.

NOt having the FAQ allows for:
  • Honing debate skills
  • Honing trolling skills
  • Perfecting one's delivery and pitch of an idea
  • Boosting post count
  • Saves space at the top of the forum
  • Wouldn't need to be controlled by a psuedo moderator

But just who do you think actually reads teh pinned topics! ;)

Of course, Bioware seems to pull it off

I don′t want a FAQ because we don′t have 100% the answers so we can′t answer the FAQ with all honesty and integrity not to mention it will discourage new forum members from raising their opinion that may very well be a unique opinion that has not been discussed before.

So I do not believe a FAQ would be good.

Stickied threads automatically become invisible.

Forget about Skyrim; how many times has "How do I get that title under my picture to change?" Or how many people try to make petitions? Or start real world political or religious discussions?

Until there is more concrete information, a FAQ could actually cause problems. People tend to treat pinned threads as official. People adding information that is personal opinion or speculation might be taken as facts, and when the game comes out and information "xyz" isn't in or isn't correct, then the OMG THE DEVS LIED threads start, when the devs didn't actually say that. This is one of the reasons I'm very glad there was no early "we're working on ES5" announcement. Less of a chance something that is said or shown will have to be cut from the game.
