Possibly Auriel's Bow, even if it was the same strength as a Daedric bow in Morrowind. I heard it was better in previous games.

There's also the Shadow Bow, it's not as strong but it has a handy enchantment for a marksman.

As far as lore goes, I would say Auriel's Bow too. I was sad to learn it wasn't present in Oblivion so I made it myself. ;)

Either:

The Bow of Shadows. Forged by Nocturnal herself for the ranger Raerlas Ghile, later reputed to have been used by the celebrated assassin Dram (see Redguard).

Auriel's Bow. Granted by Anu himself to Aldmer ancestral hero Auriel, who shot Lorkhan's Heart far out to sea with it (see The Monomyth).

And the greatest archer:

Auriel, Dram, or Missun Akin (the Black Arrow). Pick 'em.

Missun Akin was certainly the best archer. He shot through a freakin keyhole or something.

The best bow is Auriel's Bow, but only with Auriel using it. Otherwise, it powers itself and isn't all that cool. But when Auriel uses it, it shoots missles of death.

Didn't Trinimac use Auriel's bow to fire the Heart?

Trinimac tore the Heart out. Auriel fired it out to sea. "So Auriel fastened the thing to an arrow and let it fly long into the sea, where no aspect of the new world may ever find it." Except it was found...

Dun dun dun...

I'd have to say the Bow of Shadows has some very powerful enchantments.

But, there aren't many bows at all in the game. :(

Which is odd, considering that you have an entire NATION of archers... You'd think some national hero's bow, or the bow of a mildly important hero would be artifactualised, or at least treasured and coveted by those who treasure his or her history.
