Strange Landscape Glitch

I've started to have some strange landscape glitches that I really hadn't noticed before. They mostly occur in two places, the city isle around the outside of the imperial city and also in the nibenay valley.

When I leave try to leave the imperial city, sometimes after loading my character will ed up in water?! After exiting a few more times I found that though I leave through the gates out of the imperial market, everything, including me and NPCs or objects, fall right through the earth as if it wasn't there! I fall so far that I hit water underneath the landscape and can swim up to see the bottom of the imperial city. I was having this same problem when fast traveling to nibenay locations so I went to cheydinhal instead. when leaving cheydinhal, I found a huge gap in the landscape near harlun's watch where there is no land at all.

I fast travel to the cities themselves, they're not showing any of these behaviors, and I can walk outside anvil without problems.

I'm, guessing that it must be some sort of conflict for Unique Landscapes, maybe its too far up in my load order. I was thinking this wouldn't be an issue though because I'm using BOSS Masterlist Manager for sorting. I also use Better Open Cities so that may be another issue between those and Unique Landscapes.

If anyone has any ideas or has experienced this problem before, please help me solve this! Really making my game pretty annoying now.

Nothing to do with any of the Unique Landscapes. Just because someone has landscape glitches, they always point the finger at the UL mods. Most depressing.

Anyway, what you describe sounds like the result of an ESMified ESP being used in-game. Use Wrye Bash to look for an ESP whose filename is blue rather than black. That's the cause of the problem. Right-click it in Wrye Bash and select "ESPify Self" to resolve. If none of the ESPs are blue, then there's some other problem.

Use BOSS to sort out the delinquent masters issue. I do not see one mod loading after Streamline that looks like it should be loading after the Bashed Patch.

display name is already in use: My apologies for somewhat accusing Unique Landscapes of this problem. It was not fair of me to immediately accuse those plugins just because they enhance lsndscapes. Simply wasn't sure if it could have caused an issue or not, but the load order is probably it. I don't really see any ESPs with filenames that are blue instead of black though. I do have copies of some of my ESPs that I made ESMs for as well so that they could be made masters when I made my own plugins and I could use their data, perhaps that may cause this issue? Don't really know any other ways of using an esp as a master though. Maybe I should disable their esps? I think that may impact savegames though.

Tomlong: I have been putting off sorting those for a while, but I'll try now and see if that helps it.

Walker in Shadows: Yeah, I've had that issue with the bgMagicEV.esp before! Redownloaded LAME and everything and I'm not what it did with that particular plugin before. Redid it again though, this time it doesn't show that Delinquent Master thing.

That is not a problem with LAME. Read the plugin's name. It is an override intended for users that give SM priority in their load orders (which means loading SM after LAME) and want the LAME conjurations. You do not need that because LAME is overriding SM. That plugin should not be installed. Please, read the mods' ReadMe files.

Okay, that's the problem :) You've not just ESMified an ESP (something you'd do temporarily to use the CS, then undo later) you've gone one step further and actually renamed the files to ESM. And at least one of these ESMs which used to be an ESP edits the Tamriel worldspace. Any ESM (or ESMified ESP) which edits the Tamriel worldspace will produce what you're seeing in-game. If you want an ESP to be a master to another ESP, ESMify it, make your edits in the CS, then ESPify it again. The new ESP will still have that ESP as a master even though it isn't named *.esm

So you need to rename those files and ESPify them again, then use Wrye Bash's Change Master utility to redirect the dependant ESP to the renamed file once more.

TomLong: Ah, so I don't really even need the plugin now. I must have installed that one a while ago before using BOSS. I actually had forgotten what it did so I'd left it alone. Weird thing is in the list you provided Better Cities and the other various Open Better Cities components are supposed to load before the Bashed Patch but when I try to move them in OBMM a message tells me that Better Cities.esp must load after Bashed Patch.

display name is already in use: I think I know which ESMified ESP it is as well. I was messing around with spell effects recently and wanted to see how Midas some of the script effects would run in a personal spell mod of mine. I believe the problems started around that time. If I use Wyre Bash and select the MidasSpells.esm and right click, use copy to Esp, and overwrite, will the spells I used with Midas scripts stop working? Is that what you mean by rename?

You need to Copy to ESP, then select the ESP you've created which is dependant on MidasSpells.esm
On the right side of the Wrye Bash window is a box titled Masters. Within this will be a list of every ESM and ESP the selected file is dependant on.
Click in this box to activate it, then right-click on MidasSpells.esm within the list and choose "Change to..."
Now select MidasSpells.esp and click OK.
In-game, nothing should change other than the ground being restored to the way it's meant to be. Whatever your new ESP used from MidasSpells.esm it now uses from MidasSpells.esp

I followed your steps display name, and now its finally fixed. Now I won't fall out into some extra-dimensional ocean when leaving the imperial city! lol

On an unrelated note, has anyone ever seen a bug where by pressing the key for activate, it causes you to activate twice? I find that whenever I talk to anyone, after the conversation is over my character begins to talk to them again immediately after without me pressing the key. The same happens with books I read after I close them.

On an unrelated note, has anyone ever seen a bug where by pressing the key for activate, it causes you to activate twice? I find that whenever I talk to anyone, after the conversation is over my character begins to talk to them again immediately after without me pressing the key. The same happens with books I read after I close them.


I have the "double activation" problem, too exactly as you described it... don't have idea why (as you, I suppose) is a bit depressing with companions,the second activation cancel the order you give before (and Vilja never sleep anymore :P)

Hadn't thought of the problems with companions yet, that's not cool... Man, one problem gets fixed and another
just springs right up. Ah the joys of a heavily modded oblivion.
