[WIP] Ammo Crafting Schematics

Post » Sat Nov 27, 2010 11:00 pm

I Like this mod already, I also use WMX and the other two addons to it.

Well, I can tell you that that was one thing I really missed from Fallout 3, was finding Schematics, what is there?
A total of Two schematics you can find in FONV?

I was really disappointed that my character just "knew" all of the recipes and schematics
automatically and the only thing keeping me from making them was my skill level.

I mean after all, Sunny Smiles teaches me how to make ONE Item, and tells me the two ingredients I need to make healing powder,
so I go fetch those, and miraculously I succeed at making them, and next thing I know, I have a ton of recipes I can make
in my list...

Honestly I've never arsed with the ammo making part of the game because it looks like too much of a bother, or
too much micro-management.
That's why I was using Crafting Overhaul 1.1 because it made ammo crafting a bit less painful and even added
weapons and armor you could craft, (If I knew how to use FNVedit effectively) I would've merged WMX with crafting overhaul,
they co-existed OK, but when I tried to make a Mantis gauntlet is came out as a deathclaw gauntlet, LOL,
so I dropped crafting overhaul  )

So where am I going with this rambling?

1. I miss finding schematics like in Fallout 3.

2. I wish someone would redo the entire crafting "thing" and make it so you start out with absolutely NO Recipes whatsoever,
(except for that Healing Powder Recipe that Sunny Smiles showed, only because she showed you how to make it)

3. Make some schematics be "Drops", I loved getting my first WMX Mod, or .223 pistol from a raider I killed,
it made me want to go out and kill more raiders.

4. I think ammo-crafting could have a step or two removed, mainly because I never remember what parts I do/don't have
and do/don't need so I always end up walking around with kegs and kegs of gunpowder that I never turn into usable ammo.

Here's an impression of me at an ammo station....

"Ok, let's see I've got scrap metal I can make 50 of those, or 250 of those, for one scrap metal, so
If I make 250 of those with one scrap metal, I can make 250 of those other things with 5 scrap metal, I've already
turned the dynamite into gunpowder, (not sure how much, because I'm not really sure what some of these numbers mean),
but I should be able to craft some ammo now, but my list is still "grayed out"
Why?
OK, now I need uh.....powder, either rifle or that other powder and casings or shell casing or whatever, so what
is this metric ton of casings that I've been collecting and carrying around all this time?

Why can't I make anything except these two things from scrap metal, and break down dynamite?

Meh, the heck with it, I'll just find all my ammo........

Being able to make 40mm nades will be great, seeing as in vanilla they are hard to find.

crafting .22 rounds will be nice too, especially since I play with the .22 varmint rifle restored and a scarce ammo mod.

Alright, I've added four more schematics; for Electron Charge Packs, Flamer Fuel, Microfusion Cells and Small Energy Cells. For the energy ammo, there are two new recipes each; refining 'bulk' cells into normal cells, and converting fission batteries into the respective ammo type. All the appropriate energy ammo recipes (including vanilla recipes, which I've edited) now require drained cells/packs for the target ammo type, and also give left-over drained cells from the source ammo type, as appropriate. For example, when making 'max charge' or 'over charge' ammo, you'll get left-over drained cells.

For Flamer Fuel, you can refine homemade fuel into normal fuel.

Oh, and all the 'efficient' recycling recipes that you get from the 'Vigilant Recycler' perk can now be unlocked via the appropriate schematic, too.

I haven't had much free time over the last few days, and I've still got a bit of documentation to do, but I should hopefully be able to release ACS today sometime.
