Questions about OBGE and Screen Effects Shaders

Post » Sun Nov 28, 2010 3:04 am

I'm trying to use OBGE and a mod called Screen Effects together. They will work together, but the only problem I am having is that they reset every time I load a game. When I load a game, all of the OBGE options are turned on and it slows my game down a lot, and Screen Effects makes my screen completely gray. If I go into my menu and turn the options off then things work fine, but it's really annoying having to go in and turn them off every time I load a game. I have to have them activated because other mods I am using rely on them, plus I like the Godrays effect. Is there any way to save my settings in both so that I don't have to repeatedly turn them off? Thanks for the help.

I was using OBGE v2 (with the most recent updates) alongside ScreenEffects just the other day, and didn't have that problem.

Probably a slightly faulty installation, or not quite up to date combination of mods. Something like that. Make sure you have the latest versions of everything (including OBSE v18) and follow the instructions and advice in the current OBGE thread's OP. For starters anyway. If you're sure you''ve done all that already, then I'm sorry, but I'm probably out of my depth.

Perhaps ask in the OBGE thread, in that event...?

Well, I figured out the OBGE half of the problem. I had both the OBGE and OBGEv2 dll files in my Data folder. I removed the OBGE file and now I am only having to reset the Screen Effects settings. I can't seem to figure out where I could have gone wrong with its installation, as it is only like two or three files to put in the correct folders, and I've checked quite a few times to make sure they are in their proper places. Any ideas?

Isn't there an .ini setting to start the game with effects loaded or not? Hmmm... I'll go check...

Yep.

"bSaveData - Remembers the shaders loaded in by mods when you save the game.

bLoadData - Loads in the shaders previously saved in a save game."

That's found in your My Games/Oblivion folder.

I found what you are talking about in the OBGE.ini file and both are set to 1 right now. Just to clarify, my OBGE settings are loading correctly when I load a game now, only my Screen Effects settings are still loading incorrectly.

Should I set these settings to 0? Will that make my Screen Effects settings be saved?

I misunderstood. Pardon me. Perhaps this is the line that will help you:

"Please note that the HUD commands are not yet fully supported and are not saved in a save game."
