Since declaring the new currency as leaves, we have suffered a slight inflation problem. However we have decided to counteract this by burning down all the forests.

I just want a credit card. I mean, come on. Dragging around a sack of 7000 gold coins is a bit ridiculous.

Aside from the currency itself, this is what I want to see:

I want the gold to be handled like how it was in Morrowind and Fallout (as bottle caps), I don't want a counter to show up at the bottom of the screen in my INV tab that says that I have x gold, but I want to go into the misc section and see my gold in the window. This means that I could grab the money and put it on the ground like you could with the other games.

I want a banking system in the game, this is a great way to deal with things like a potential hardcoe Mode that Beth could be making, as money might likely take on a weight. Banks also add immersion, which would be great for the people that are into that kind of thing. Also, having a bank would allow you to gain interest and/or take loans (which you could always "forget" about paying back). SUPER EPIC EDIT: The bank will take the money you have with them as repayment on any outstanding loans, so withdraw before you take it. Also, bank robberies, the high-risk/high-reward targets for the thieves of Skyrim.

I want something like the AI going nuts and trying to take dropped gold, you can use it as a distraction and the more you throw somewhere, the more the AI reacts. If you drop too much, they are hesitant to take it. This won't likely make it into the game, since they would have to build in a whole new AI scheme, and they have nine months to do it and test it.

I'm gonna take a guess and say that the currency will be called Drakes. My reason for that in one word, Dragons.

"Another day, another septim". :P

That saying has 2 meanings:

1. The Imperial Watch are paid incredibly poor

2. Members of the Septim lineage die like flies

ISK ! thats norse enough, altho i think since most of the scandinavian countries use a currency called Krónur or Kronas or kroner or whatever... how about a currency called Crown/Koruna/Krona/Krone
but this is not based on the real world, so how about sticking to Drakes ?

It is 1 krona, 2 kronor! Now you know! I live in sweden and we are the ONLY country that uses Kronor

The Empire would most probably still have a uniform currency, but maybe secessionists would use something different, sort of like the NCR money and Legion coins in Fallout : New Vegas, except Bottlecaps made both of those currencies quite useless in that game, except for conversion into Bottlecaps.

I think that the question here is, whether we would see Skyrim currency being simply regarded as a material it's forged from, -and in that case it would be mighty interesting to see something else in addition to good ol' gold pieces, which may find use in case smaller monetary fractions are to appear, which in my opinion is a log time coming necessity, both for fun and realism's sake. For example, given a value of gold that we are accustomed to (even if it makes but a small fraction of typical "gold" piece) it seems highly unlikely for a loaf of bread to cost so much. And if so, then we would be facing a massive inflation in land.- or rather a specific "regional" name, standing for gold, silver, bronze (etc.) pieces.

Now that might be an interesting problem for all the lore people out there, but the first question we might ask (in the second case) is either Skyrim (as a territory) has been always using Septims, -imperial currency- or maybe due to teir long tradition, and proud independent spirits they've been allowed to keep their historical "huscarls"? Maybe since one would imagine that one of Skyrim's only sources of income being the trade (although I'd imagine Nords to be pretty self sufficient) -and them being Empire's only strictly "mountain" province should produce many exotic and/or luxury goods, ones in high demand across all of Tamriel- they decided to adopt more common currency in order to boost their income - Well that's just a little of lore-fan-fiction from me, didn't mean to ramble  -

Also I think that it's highly possible that since civil war has erupted, two opposing factions may be pushing to keep/introduce their preferred variant of money. Then we could be dealing with a situation similar to the one in F:NV: We might have have some folks using Imperial money, (Septims, just because in the chaos that came after fall of the Dragonborn dynasty any eventual tyrants, pretenders and self proclaimed rulers had problems aplenty, leave alone currency reforms.), freedom fighters (Secessionist, patriots as you please) rushing with their "new" Nordic money, (that might refer, or even be a resurrected currency form times before the Septims, back when Skyrim was free), and others, who just take raw gold, money for what it is -value-.

I sure can't wait to find out, though.

They should at least diversify the money system. And also make it harder to acquire. After a few hours of gameplay my character would would have more money than the imperial family lol.
