Chain Armor

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:19 pm

Ive played quite a few Daggerfall characters and have noticed that sometimes certain armor has different color tones depending on the game. Ive mostly noticed it in chain, but Ive seen it in elvish and dwarf. Like with some characters, a chain torso will actually look like chain, and your clothes can be seen through it. On other characters the chain torso is solid, and cant be seen through. With some plate armors, the tone looks darker/dull. I only see the effect on torso, gloves, and legs. Feet and head are always the same.

Is this a bug? Some way to fix? Ive always hated this.

For what little it's worth, I never noticed that myself. Maybe I tend to play the same races/sixes without realizing it.

It has to do with what race you chose. Each race has it's own slightly different art (well, not each race, often all the elves are in one pot and all the humans another, and I think argonian and khajiit each get their own set).

Hey, it looks like ol' Svatopluk has a page on this, even: http://www.svatopluk.com/daggerfall/secrets/silver.stm.

IIRC "Venom Spitting" was a misnomer; what you were really getting was ability to levitate. And I have to admit I like the serendipity in the juxtaposition between that and the garment in question.

Some days I miss Morrowind's "Ring of Shockballs." Sure, it was a crappy ring, but the name was hilarious.

I wonder if thongs of venom spitting exist? ;)
While it's a useful magic item for levitation, it has most undesirable side effects!

Never wear it on the first date, that's for sure.
