Grimm Fairy Tales Graphic Novels, Zenescope Entertainment

Post » Sat Dec 04, 2010 2:25 am

Has anyone read Grimm Fairy Tales, the graphic novel series? They look cool but I'm uncertain as to the quality of the books. Fables from Vertigo is awesome, and I like the more advlt theme of the Grimm's books however, if its just a gimmic with scantly clad chicks on a few pages here and there with sub-par writing, I'm not very interested.

Any opinions on this series?

They're... trashy. In a good way, at least to me. Horrific, violent, shmexy. But don't expect any kind of faithful re-telling of the original tales (and certainly not the further Grimm'ified ones).

Trashy in a good way works for me :D I'll have to check them out, its hard finding reviews on them. Granted, I've only checked amazon.ca and not .com which should be my next move. I'm certainly not looking for too much depth, but I want some enjoyment other than the odd hawt splash page. I want to avoid buying a book thats "crap, boring, what?, ... shiny....crap, boring, what? Cover art gallery : Shiny".

Yeah, think Sam Raimi, David Cronenberg and a few grains of Lynch, applied to the original versions of the Grimm's retold tales. That's about the closest I can come up with. ^_^
