Weather Mods

Post » Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:30 pm

First off, I'm new to the whole mod thing, as I'm sure you'll realize as you read the rest of the post. I attempted to install the All Natural mod but ran into purple rain issues and I've yet to get Wrye Bash to run on my computer (OS Windows 7 - 64bit). As far as I could tell from the readme that came with Wrye Bash it is a bit over my head. If there is an easy way to get the All Natural mod working on my computer I would appreciate any help. I installed the All Natural mod via OBMM ... one potential conflict being I had already installed AWS and natural environments. I do not have any of the AWS programs running but do have natural environments weather HDR running. I attempted to try All Natural without natural environments weather HDR running and I still get purple rain. Considering the mod requires you to have Wrye Bash I'm guessing that is my problem. I'm also using BOSS to handle load order.

Any other recommendations for weather mods are also welcome if the All Natural mod proves to be too much for me to figure out. Thanks.

If you've installed Oblivion and mods (etc.) in the default location, I suggest doing a clean uninstall and a fresh install, but this time, installing outside of Program Files (or the x86 version, in your case) - I use C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion for example, but there are plenty of other directory names you could use.

Also, you might want to check out http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/. There is a ton of vital information there. In addition, check the current thread (look in the first, say, 10 pages of threads at least) for each mod you're interested in. And if you have questions about that specific mod, ask there.

Wrye Bash can take a bit of getting used to, but it is well worth it, once you understand the basics. And from there, it only gets better (e.g., BAIN installations...)

edit: Oh, and one thing you'll probably hear again and again, but which is absolutely essential, is that you *must* do something about Archive Invalidation - most likely, this will mean telling either Wrye Bash or OBMM to get Oblivion to use BSA Redirection.

You don't need Wrye Bash in order to get it working, I managed just fine without it one time. And if you're getting purple rain then it probably means that you have a texture missing. Make sure you have everything installed properly, including those other weather mods. You might even be running into a conflict with those other two, who knows. It's not necessary to have all of them running at once, that's just asking for problems.

Don't run two weather mods together at the same time.

Don't run two weather mods together at the same time.

Strongly seconded

The AN instructions say explicitly to NOT use the original mods.

Please, post your load order: http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=know_how_to#PostYourLoadOrder

Do you have BSA Redirection set in OBMM > Utilities (sidebar) > Archive Invalidation?

Uninstall AWS and Natural Weather, you can only use 1 weather mod at a time and All Natural includes the weather types from the other two mods anyway. All Natural does not require Wrye Bash. Did you make an OMOD for All Natural?

Oops, I totally missed the bit about having AWS etc. installed (as well as All Natural). Yep, that'll do it.

All Natural includes customised/optimised versions of AWS, Natural Weather and Enhanced Weather, and in fact, by default, has them all enabled and working together. You can select the one(s) you want, in All Natural.ini - when or if you get to that stage, depending on what you end up using, of course.

And you were doing so well...

AN does require WB, it needs the Bashed Patch to work properly if you're using other mods that edit cells, which users most likely do, hence it's been made a specific requirement.

OP should read (and follow the instructions of) readmes, and will find that this solves all the problems he has mentioned.

Eh guess you can't win them all. Mentally noted.

Thank you to all for quick responses. I'm in the process of reading and following the step-by-step instructions on the site Breton Paladin recommended. I'm currently working around the admin problems in Windows 7 by installing the game in a place outside the Program Files along with a back-up for future screw-ups. I'm sure I'll be back with more Q's in the future once I get around to actually installing the All Natural Mod the right way.
