MP game modes?

I have to agree I think the no statistics is absolutely great. People will actually be doing objectives and working as a team. I am pumped for this game and the 10th cannot get here soon enough!

I understand that there are no leaderboards, but that doesn't mean each player doesn't have their own stats page. Like MAG. I heard straight from a developer's mouth that they do track stats like K/D but something could have changed since then. The reason I think it's a bad idea is because many people need some added inspiration to keep playing a game over and over again. In a game that relies so much on teamwork I imagine there will be a lot of mismatches and those games can be boring if you don't get to take anything away from them except experience points. And kills matter in every FPS, objective based or not. It's a lot easier to blow something up if the other team is on their respawn. I feel not keeping track of statistics will lose more good players than it will convert.

Also there are a lot more statistics than just K/D. Like I said, I want to keep track of W/L, points per matches, objectives completed, etc. Kills don't need to be displayed on the scoreboard, but it's a mistake not to at least the individual player see them.

I somewhat partially agree when it comes to SD needing more things to motivate people. I'm against stat tracking but something other than xp rewards would be nice. I mean, when you're level 20 what's the point of doing anything? Your max level. It's like the 2012 formula (sort of).

You don't understand his question. He asking if you compete with other players in Multiplayer modes.

Yes, you do. If you have ever played Killzone 3's operation mode, it will perform a little like that. There are cutscene for each mission, and campaign missions are basically Multiplayer missions, except against other players. They are very in-depth and you each map can be played twice, one version of the mission for Security, one For resistance. There are 8 maps, and 2 what-if maps.

You can also play the campaign with Co-Op and bots.

There are challenge modes, which you try to perform the selected challenge at the best skill level and compete for online leaderboards.

There are NO leaderboards in Brink, at all, so if you some super-devoted COD really devoted fan who loves to brag about his leaderboard rank, you will be disappointed. N K/D tracking, No W/L tracking, nothing. You play for fun.

Hope that answers any questions you might have. :spotted owl:

Ohhh. Sorry for that, then. I had assumed OP understood the whole mingleplayer concept, since he/she made no mention of it. My apologies for confusing you :c

I 100% understand being against leaderboards, even as someone who loves stats, but I don't understand why people are so strongly opposed to stat tracking. Unless their stats are normally really bad. I'd think even a bad player would like to track their progress. Make your stats invisible to everyone else, but there needs to be some kind of stat tracking to keep me interested for weeks and months. Going back to MAG, another super team-oriented game, I would have quit that game soon after I started if I didn't have the opportunity to improve my statistics each game. Many games were terribly one-sided. But like I said, I heard from a developer that they do keep track of those stats so I'm going to stick with that for now. Plus I can't remember the last shooter I played that didn't keep track of stats.

Soooo what types of game modes are to be expected on these 8+2 maps I've been reading about?

Can't find any real detailed information about it. Surely they have released something, like is there a grab and return the data(CTF) type map? Perhaps a plant the bomb and blow up the target type map?

All maps are campaign related, but the extra two maps are "what-if" scenarios. These are just basic modifications to the story, except that the factions involved take a different (probably more radical) action.
