A Favela Divided?

While watching some Brink gameplay from VG247, I noticed that although Chen was supposedly the ringleader behind the 'demonstrations', 'riots' etc. of the resistance, one of the Resistance soldiers (the bearded man with the Bulpdaun) proclaimed that he had tried his utmost to 'avoid' the inevitable cassus belli.
This provides some food for thought; is Chen truly the supreme leader of a united Resistance faction, or is he merely a physical and ideological figurehead to give loosely organized and nearly autonomous rebel groups a collective identity? More interestingly still, could the bearded man be in fact a faction leader, or even the de facto leader of the workers?

As you can see, big questions about the core storyline of the game. Any ideas?

According to other sources (don't have a Link, but I'm sure someone who does will be along shortly)...

Chen is the leader of the Resistance because the various factions within the group are all willing to follow his lead. They aren't a unified front, they're a bunch of scattered groups that share a common goal, and Chen is using that common goal to motivate everyone so they will walk together even though they don't see eye to eye on a lot of issues.

I actually hope that they made the so story like this: You see what is happening and then all of the sudden you figure there is something bigger going on.

I love it when that happens.

According to Splash Damage every mission will have this element, sometimes more obvious, sometimes less. But you have to play the mission on both sides to get behind the whole thing.

Also Brother Chen is - and yes, I've said that before - like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DteP_VQK1Z8&#t=131s.
