Are single player and co-op merged like borderlands? and does it have a separate multilayer mode? i have searched it up but i haven't found a clear answer.

yep they are merged, but no split-screen though. and every mode is mixed so not really separate, you can play the campaign with random online people co-op with freinds and bots or just yourself and bots.

I'll try to answer this to the best of my knowledge -- you regulars correct me if I'm off the mark, please. ^_^

Each side's campaign plays the same missions on the same maps regardless of whether you're playing alone or with friends. Single-player mode is played with AI-controlled bots (which are actually quite capable, from what's been revealed about them). If you want, you can just switch to Freeplay mode (or is it the other one?) and replace those bots with human players.

As far as co-op, by which I think you mean two players, I'll have to do some more research, but there is no split-screen.

yes I came across this a couple hours ago. There is no campaign mode and you do campaign. then multilayer mode with tdm and free for all and captures.

I think there's campaign, challenges, random type thing and uhh idk,, I guess a multiplayer option under campaign. But it's a tad like operation mode from Killzone 3. Except with your friends on ur list, co-op, or with random peeps.

...? so its like borderlands, but also with separate multiplayer modes like team death match and free for all?

Okay, there is single player (you and AI allies vs. AI), co-op (friends and you vs. AI), and multiplayer (You and other players vs. other players). The maps are the same, they do not change. The game modes in this game are specific to the map (and are all objective-based) and will NOT change between SP, Co-op, and MP, but only between maps.

There is NO team deathmatch or FFA in this game.

"Campaign Mode" exists in both single and multiplayer, but all that mode means is that you are playing the maps in order. The winning team stays in the room as it goes to the next map, while the losing team is thrown back into matchmaking for the same map, and tries again.

But you can also make custom rooms and changes the settings as you see fit, and pick any map you want.

The third playing mode is the competitive "Stopwatch mode". It times how long the offensive team takes to win the game, then swaps the teams, to see if the other team can beat their time.

All of these are the same no matter who is playing. If you're alone, if you want friends on your team, if you want it open to the public; any open player slots will be filled by AI.

Well, the main reason to buy Brink is if you are a multiplayer gamer, or, if the bots are as good as SD claims, to have the multiplayer experience without internet.

Same maps, same modes for single-player, coop and multi-player. That could make the game very dry after an average amount of playing time.

I'd like to see something like the 'Conquest' mode in BC2 aka capture-the-flag. It'd put the heavy-body, health buffing, mini-gun players at real use whilst the more limber players can skip around the map fighting their way to the other flags to capture. Team deathmatch and free-for-all not so much because that does go against the ethos of Brink and the civil war story. I remember Resident Evil 5's ability to play the story in it's entirety with another player, the 'Mercenaries' mode was a really fun addition, it added a lot of variety and depth to the multiplayer, as did the DLC (side/back-stories).

I suspect there'll be DLC adding new modes and maps, perhaps based on back-stories within in the Ark (perhaps a Security member who eyes corruption within and switches over to the Resistance to fight for freedom) I love the idea of the objective based approach but it sounds a little limited and repetitive - complete each objective within a certain time limit on the same progression of maps according to the story (which I read was fairly short in itself). I also admire the sheer depth of character customisation but I hope SD haven't focussed too much attention on that element and leave a lack of depth in the gameplay/maps/modes/story.

Actually its for people who constantly replay their games. Single Player and Campaign are a bit of a misnomer here. They are all multiplayer style battles. The Campaign is just a series of multiplayer battles strung together with an interesting story and cut scenes. If you don't like that style of play, and aren't into playing the multiplayer of a game over and over, whether its against bots, with friends or against people, Brink is not for you.

Ok i think I can clear up what he is asking, does a character I create in single player also carry over and level in a multiplayer campaign (and vice-versa) as well?

And from my understanding, don't quote me and correct if I am wrong, is that your character that you create can be carried over(lvl and abilities) to the multiplayer side as well, al-la Borderlands style.

That is true. Your character is not tied to any mode. You can take the same character(s) and jump back and forth between singleplayer, coop or multiplayer.

But I don't think thats what hes asking, because he wanted to know if you play the same levels.
