New Nintendo console

Because, Nintendo had the games library to be able to sit on its haunches. I can attest to that - I had a Gameboy and my sister had a Game Gear. And yes, I'd occasionally borrow hers to play Sonic, Earthworm Joe and Sonic Spinball, but she borrowed mine far more often because I had Donkey Kong Land, Kirby's Dreamland, Super Mario Land, Tetris, Qix, etc etc.

Ah, fond memories...

I was particularly fond of the Mario games for the Original Gameboy, significantly different enough from the regular Marios, both in storyline, and in the platforming itself. I just wish I had gotten the various RPGs for the original Gameboy back in the day. I seem to remember there were several final fantasies released for it that were totally original(or so I think, again my memory could be wrong, that was back when I was like..10).

Nah, GameBoy Color was way later.

GameBoy: 1989
GameGear: 1990
GameBoy Color: 1998

when was the NGP made?

Those GameBoy games were called Final Fantasy, but only in name.

"Final Fantasy Adventure" is originally called Seiken Densetsu 1. You may know Seiken Densetsu 2 as Secret of Mana on the SNES.

The "Final Fantasy Legends" games are SaGa 1, 2, and 3. You may know of the series on later consoles, I have only played the GameBoy games of the series though.

The implication was that Sony was adversely affected, yet Nintendo was not. Nintendo is a Japanese company, and thus, was affected.

I never said Nintendo wasn't affected. I actually never implied that at all. Show me where I said that pretty please. All I said was that sony was affected. I bet Nintendo was, but not as much as sony was. They had to cut back their spending a lot more then Nintendo did. Nintendo has come out with the 3DS and is coming out with a new console next year, while Sony can't come out with their new product they were wanting to.

It's confirmed now by Nintendo's president himself that the controller WILL have buttons as well, dispelling fears its controller is only touch screen based. Nintendo (rightfully) doesn't believe a touch screen can replace buttons. I'm hoping shoulder buttons get confirmed. Take a Classic Controller Pro and plop a touch screen in the middle and it might work very well.

If it's rumored to use an R700 (HD 4000 AMD series) but with added OpenGL 4.1 support it could hit a sweet spot power/price wise.

You mean this?

Sony's Japanese arm has told The Wall Street Journal that earlier reports — including those by SCEA president Jack Tretton — suggesting that Japan's recent earthquake would delay the release of the NGP in some territories were outright "wrong". Sony representative Satoshi Fukuoka said he expects "no impact from the quake on our launch plan".[38][39]

I'll definitely wait to see what kind of games get released for it. Rushing to buy a Wii was a bad idea. About the only thing worth a crap on it are the first party games (of course) and the virtual console, of which I only have a few games on.

If the controllers for the new console do indeed have those screens on them, they will be freaking EXPENSIVE. Definitely don't rage and throw one, because you'll be paying out your ass to buy a new one.

I have a feeling that was directed at me. I have gone through so many 360 controllers.......

I almost broke the last one while fighting Shao Khan in the 3rd tournament on story mode. Almost. I stopped myself before I chunked it on the floor and stomped on it. :P

As for the new console, I hope it works out. I probably won't buy one unless it has good third party support and proper online play.

I have that same problem with the 360 Controller although I don't throw them, the main problem is the triggers they go away after a while. I'm hoping this new controller that nintendo is making is good and it's built to last.

Do you trust SCEA or the main Japan spokesman?

I honestly don't trust the main Japan spokesman. For all we know he could be hiding something so japan doesn't look as bad. But I am not going to get too deep on this. I don't want to go out to far of the actual post topic. If you want we can battle via IM.
