[Extreme] Hypothetical Situations

Post » Sat Jan 15, 2011 4:57 am

I was doing some brain-storming today during a long car drive, as usual. :P

A thought occurred to me, well, more like an extreme hypothetical situation. I was thinking about my favorite things; games, movies, music, etc that has influenced my life in some way. Things that I grew up with that are more than likely more important to me than others for a sentimental reason.

The hypothetical situation is this: you have been stranded on an island have been given a choice of certain things to keep you company for the rest of your life. What would those things be?
You have the choice of the following:

1) 2 gaming systems, and 5 games per system. (PC counts as one.)
2) 1 iPod that had your choice of TEN of your favorite artist. ALL songs/albums by each artist would be available
3) 2 entire series (all seasons) of your top 2 favorite shows of all time
4) 5 of your favorite films
5) 5 of your favorite books

I feel as if these choices you are about to make should define you as a person. But, the real question is this; Why? Why would you choose the things you do? What do they mean to you? Why are they important?

Use this default:

1) Gaming System of Choice #1
a.) game for ^ system
b.) game for ^ system
c.) game for ^ system
d.) game for ^ system
e.) game for ^ system

2) Gaming System of Choice #2
a.) game for ^ system
b.) game for ^ system

d.) game for ^ system
e.) game for ^ system

3) Your iPod artist list: (10 of your favorites)

Also, please list why.

Whats the point in these electronics if I don't have electricity?

If I do have electricity:

1. PS3 Slim (nice electronic parts including a wireless adapter)

Games: unimportant

2. Xbox 360 S (nice electronic parts including a wireless adapter)

Games: unimportant

3. Artists for iPod: doesn't matter, the first thing I'd do is chuck the thing into the ocean (sorry, I know I shouldn't pollute)

4. Survivorman (useful for obvious reasons :P), MacGyver (inspiration)

5. Films: doesn't matter

6. Books: How to build a radio beacon for dummies and 4 similarly themed books

That's right, I'm getting off this island!

Wait, we get no human company option!? D: I would surely go mental. After about two days of no human contact I start to go a bit loopy. Anyway. On with the answer.

1a. PC, with heavily modded Fallout 3 GOTY, heavily modded Fallout New Vegas, heavily modded Oblivion, Age of Empires- the Asian Dynasties expansion, and...Can I pre-order Skyrim? I'd pick these because I somply have yet to get bored of them. The Fallouts and Oblivion are simply enormous and you can play them forever (yes, exaggerating), and I like playing AOE when I feel like a bit of a change.
1b. PS2, with Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot Warped, Gran Turismo 2, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and....that's all. Why? Cause they're freaking fantastic.

2. Lamb of God, Slipknot, Green Day, Rammstein, Rise Against, Pendulum, Murderdolls, Metallica, Mindless Self Indulgence and Harvest. The first 9, because I love that stuff, and the last band because they're friends of mine and would remind me of good times and good people.

3. Top Gear, Invader Zim. Zim would keep me sane.

4. 28 Days later, 28 Weeks Later, Dawn of the Dead (remake), Repo: The Genetic Opera and maybe something funny, but I dunno what.

5. 5 things written by Terry Pratchett. Or four things, and one book written by Douglas Adams.

Since we're able to include any console and any game, that assumes we have internet access.

In which case, I bring a PC and send out a distress message over the web, get rescued and have access to all my stuff again.

1) Super Nintendo
a.) Secret of Mana: All time favorite game, and if I had all day long to play, I'd go through and once I got to the flying fortress I'd grind until I got every weapon to level 9
b.) Earthbound: Because it's such an awesome game, and is quite large with a lot of stuff to do
c.) Super Mario World: Because it's a long game if you unlock every single secret in it, and it's quite fun
d.) Breath of Fire 2: Another fun game with a lot of stuff to do, and characters that I enjoy(Plus, if I get bored, I can try to beat my all-time high damage output on the Male tiger who wants to Marry Katt and is unkillable. I once dished out 246k damage on him without him dying(Final boss in game only has 10k)
e.) Super Mario Kart: Got to have a non-rpg in the mix, and Super Mario Kart has a ton of replayability by unlocking the higher CC's.

2) Nintendo DS
a.) Rune Factory 2: An Amazing game with a ton of quests, and an extremely intricate crafting system that you have to slowly learn over-time(you're not just given every recipe from the get-go). Great storyline, and just plain old fun
b.) Yu-Gi-Oh Nightmare Troubadour: I love Yu-Gi-Oh, both the anime and the card game, and this particular game has a ton of the early cards, a fun battling system, and a very diverse cast of characters, including Marik in full evil mode and non-evil mode.
c.) Dragon Quest Monsters Joker: Excellent game that is somewhat like a hyped up pokemon: Ability to breed different monsters with two different parents, a large amount of the monsters introduced throughout all of Dragon Quest, and a storyline that doesn't end when you think it does.
d.) The Original Touchmaster: A wide variety of mini-games and/or puzzles that never get old. I play this whenever I need a break from RPGs or more serious games in general. Always a thrill when you manage to beat a high-score that you never thought you would be able ot.
e.) Mario Party: I've always enjoyed the Mario Party games, and the one for the DS is every bit as fun as the console versions. Lots of re-playability due to a large amount of unlockable content(going through the storyline mode with a different character unlocks different things)

3) Your iPod artist list: (10 of your favorites): Godsmack, Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Complete Soundtrack for Escaflowne, Complete Soundtrack for Martian Successor Nadesico, All songs in Les Miserables, Linkin Park, Eminem, Staind, A track of Random Instrumentals

4) House

5) Good Will Hunting, Night of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil, Texas Chainsaw Massacre(remake, not the original)

6) This is a hard one, I tend to like all of my books, not sure if I really have "favorite" books. Yeah, can't really think of any individual books that I like over others. Now, series of books, that would be a different story: Erevis Cale Trilogy(Forgotten Realms), The Survivalist Series(28 books in all), Anita Blake Series, Dark Tower series, Awakened Mage series(4 books in all so far I think)

Lil Wayne
Wiz Khalifa
Lupe Fiasco
Roksonix Dubstep

5) Uhh...
Pineapple Express
Jarhead (love this movie)
Saving Private Ryan
Back To The Future
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly (Gotta get my Eastwood dose in there)

6) I don't read much

But I'ma just boost the limit to 7 and say all the Harry Potter books, just for massive content, story, and rereadability. Might have to exchange that for the Percy Jackson series, I'm a nut for Greek mythology.

In all honesty, I'd trade this all in for survival, medical and hunting supplies.

Where are we getting electricity from anyway? And a TV? And a monitor?
