Long Rifles

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:10 pm

Hey everyone I'm new to these forums and just had a question

Does anyone know of a gun in another game that the long rifles can be compared to? i.e. the snipers in Borderlands or something like an M14 in terms of rate of fire

Thanks

Long rifles? Imagine a semi-auto sniper form Bad Company 2, the SVU for example :3

And welcome! :celebration:

I always imagined them being somewhat close to the Scout in Counter Strike: Source, not really sure though.

Yeah, the snipers in Borderlands sound like a good comparision.
There are two types of Sniper rifles in Borderlands.

The slow, strong ones that use a revolving chamber. You have to pump these between shots, and they're lacking in magazine size. This is the Barrett Bolt-Action Long Rifle.

The fast but weaker ones that use a magazine. These are semi-automatic, and often have a magazine size of 7. This is the Dragnov Semi-auto Long Rifle.

The Drog is comparable to the M14 (although a little slower between shots I believe), the Barret is more comparable to your standard bolt action rifles (the Kar98 or Springfield 03 from WW2 shooters).

I'm almost positive there are not, but there is a burst one (the FRKN 3K or whatever it's called)

No ARs to my knowledge, but that is effectively the purpose of the Drognov LR.

Think of the Drognav as the G3 from CoD4, and the Barrett as the M14

Not 100% sure on this, but I think that the Rokstedi is semi-automatic.

^ Hatter got it,
because the Rokstedi has 15/30 ammo
and you cant go full auto with that many rounds

I REALLY hope they make more weapons in the future. Right now it seems a little bit limited. But who am I to talk? I haven't even seen all of them yet so whatever...I just hope they're not as limited as they seem to me. :shakehead:

The wikia says it's semi-auto too. Just checked. But yes, with a magazine size smaller than that of the FRKN-3K, which is burst fire, one would assume that is not fully automatic.

Rokstedi is going to have a smaller mag size due to the round size, it is going to be semi-automatic due to the stopping power of the 7.62x51, which would be a waste to use in F/A. Check the Shadow Cats weapon derivative thread in my sig to see the other weapons and their real life counterparts (not all have been found)
