They might be good for everyone else, but if they svcked like they did in Oblivion, I wont waste the couple of thousand gold to get one, maybe steal one as a thief and that's it.

Todd said that they were still working on horses and hadn't worked out exactly what they would be like or if they would make it into the final cut of the game. He also said that a world without them feels strange. After seeing the video I completely agree that not having horses in Skyrim would seem really weird. So while I'm sure they have plenty of ideas they are testing to see how they work in the game why don't we offer some ideas of our own? Here's mine:

Now that towns have an economy horses should be able to carry packs or pull carts and could be used for transporting goods between towns. Basically you could store a lot more than you could carry by yourself and be able to trade and sell goods in different towns.

You should also be able to buy and sell horses. There would be different types such as cheap weak and slow ones that can't pull a cart but let you carry a little additional stuff and run off if attacked to strong fast ones that you can fight on the backs of and can fight back on their own if attacked, etc.

Yeah I miss being able to have a wagon like in Daggerfall.

it would really be cool if we could use our horses in the combat system, maybe we could upgrade them and add armor.

Yep, that is indeed a horse. With a saddle. Which means...well, nothing really aside from there being models for horses and saddles. Morrowind had models for guar with cargo packs, but that didn't mean we had the ability to have pack guar ourselves. Depends on what Todd and Company manage to work out by release time and what they decide to do.

Oh wow...

My thoughts exactly.

Horses Confirmed != Mounts Confirmed. Excuse me while I go make a thread titled "Deer Confirmed" (as seen in the fall forest) and insinuate that we will be able to ride them.

Well if they are like Oblivion they will be pointless anyway, you can fast travel everywhere and you can't even attack on them so I don't see the point spending gold on horses when fast travel is free and much faster.

For some reason I can't recall them. Were you able to ride on them or just pull stuff in them?

You could do both, although you never saw the actual wagon.

i would actually think that riding one of those giant spiders would be more convinient in skyrim sinse there are a lot of huge boulders and the landscape isnt quite horse fit.

First you'd have to buy the Horse Armor DLC and...oh gawd. Flashbacks.

Whilst watching the trailer for the 10th time, I noticed in the shot with the windmill (1:20 - 1:22) you can see a horse on the left side of the windmill. I saw a topic on the forums saying horses arent in skyrim, well I just layed a big steamy brick on your topic

Actually you didn't. I'm gonna lay a big steamy brick on your topic and point out, if it hasn't been cleared up already, that Todd Howard said in the podcast or whatever that horses will be in the game, surely, but whether we'll be able to ride them or not is still on the table. Your topic is wrong because they have not been confirmed. In fact, that video didn't change anything that was already known about horses. All that's been confirmed is that there's a horse in the trailer.

They put women in the game, doesn't mean you can mount them. Lol.

but then they could actually be useful, unlike oblivion, because you would have a height advantage over your foe if we could fight on them.

I replied in another thread that I think everything in the game should be mountable :hubbahubba:

I still hope that I can climb onto an NPC's shoulders and slap him on the butt with my sword and command him to carry me across one of those raging rivers.

Well I sure *HOPE* they let us have mountable horses. It's key to getting around without fast travel. Mounted combat is less important. Even Oblivion horses would be better than no horses, and leaves the modder with something to mod rather than having to create - big difference.

There were sheep/minotaurs/mudcrabs/zombies/wood elves in Oblivion but you couldn't ride them.

Think about those snowy mountain scenes, if horses are like Oblivion you'd have a hard time galloping through all those dense rocks and trees. But those wolves run very well so I guess we'll have to wait and see.
