Will my computer be ready for Skyrim?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:34 pm

Ok, first time posting here, sorry if its not appropreate to do so, but I'm just so damn exited! seeing that brand new trailer... gives me chills... but also fills me with a sense of dread that I may not have a computer ready for its glory once its ready. I'm already in need of an upgrade from my puny little GT 220. Everything else seems ready... but I need to choose the right graphic card. Problem is I can't seem to decide between a ATI 5850, or a Nvidia 460 1 GB. Sources clame the ATI is faster, and slightly cheaper, but I can't decide... what would you recomend as a good card, for under 200 bucks to get?
I will not have a computer unworthy of playing this game! Such a thing would be heresy!

I'd do the ATI 5850, Every computer I have has an Nvidia, and I have performance issues with it.

Have never had an issue with Nvidia...

Regardless don't buy a GPU, or any component if you don't need to upgrade now, do it September or so, at the end of this year new GPU architcture is coming out, which is going to flucuate all the prices of current cards greatly.

the gtx 460 se 1gig is not as good as the regular 460 out of the box. but it is easily overclocked, and it only runs $160.
these cards also run very cool
