Regarding the Pre-order selection

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:24 pm

Hey there, I noticed that out of the 4 pre-order packs, only the Spec-ops one allows you to get an in-game exclusive Hockler machine pistol.

So my question is this: Will you eventually get the same machine pistol later on in the game or is it fully 100% exclusive to the pre-order? Because if I can get it later on in the game eventually (a la Bad Company 2 pre-order type deal) then I'd much rather pre-order the Fallout or Doom packs.

Thanks ahead of time!

The Hockler is per-order exclusive, but there is another automatic pistol in the game, the http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Belgo_Machine_Pistol, which will presumably be similar.

Don't forget the Psycho pack gets you a pistol.

If the weapons in these two packs are exclusive you can bet there will be two guns available to everyone which have the same statistics, so you'd only be gaining a unique skin.

Personally I believe all the items in these two packs are early access, this is how it works with just about every other game.

So in regards to what you're both saying, should I just go with a skin pack? Because that Doom armor is looking pretty legit. And if all I'm paying for is an exclusive skin then I'd at least like to stay flashy.

Edit: I didn't even know the psycho pack came with a pistol. I'll need to look at it again.

The Hockler is per-order exclusive

This hasn't been confirmed.

if you're basing it off a website or advertisemant saying "exclusive" that can mean that early access is exclusive to this pack, that's how it goes with most games.

Wasn't it said somewhere that there were five pistols in the game? And there are seven, counting the pre-order pistols. Plus it says everywhere that they are exclusive. Then again, I've also read that they aren't. Anyway, no way to know at this point, but it sounds like they're exclusive to me. Either way, I'm sure they won't make too big of a difference. We'll just have to wait and see.

Psycho back comes with the http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Caesar_Revolver, and there will be the http://brink.wikia.com/wiki/Ritchie_Revolver in the regular game. Again, they should presumably be similar, or perhaps even identical in stats.

I'm just going to trust that the game will be well balanced, so I'd say get whatever pre-order pack you like best; if you really like the Doom pack, go for it! :)

If the two guns are exclusive and provide better stats than any other gun in their cateogy, which I highly doubt, it will only be of benefit in pubs as competitions won't allow them.

SD haven't officially released any information confirming that the pre-order weapons have any different stats to the in-game equivalents, but someone using the name "Fishbus" on Something Awful has posted that the stats are the same, and was the first source for the names of their equivalents (which have since been confirmed).

Also, SD have gone on record saying there are no plans to release the pre-order packs outside of pre-orders - doesn't rule out the possibility of plans changing, of course.

NOTE: Fishbus is a well-known nickname for one of SD's employees.
