Why not have Co-op in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 8:38 pm

It might have alot of bugs but what if you could invite a friend to your world and show him your house and armor and he can bring his character and you guys could go around just doing stuff. To be honest the game is so huge but it gets extremely lonely sometimes.

I just think it would be extremely hard to implement successfully. Would you quest together? Then the quests would have to be scaled to fit that. Friendly fire? I don't know, maybe some type of Arena style multiplayer would be fun, but I just can't see it being much fun otherwise, just my opinion.

Multiplayer games usually have to be multiplayer form the start to work well, and guess exactly what Skyrim is not. It will be possible, but very difficult to mod multiplayer in. A friend of mine and I want to make a Skyrim mod that will become its own game (based off donations so as not to get sued by Bethesda), that would be an MMO that works like a single player game in which you can also play with friends, (other players are more like companions) but how we do it... that is a very difficult question to answer.

There are a lot of reasons why, but a big one is that the game simply isn't geared for more than one person. The game would be much different if it was made for more, and a lot of people wouldn't like that. Myself included. I'd rather just watch my world change, no need to show anyone else. If they wanna see, they can come over. I'll make pizza.

And as for arena matches...how much fun would it be to fight against someone in 100% chamelion while you yourself have 100% damage reflect?

Marko!

...polo...

Marko!

...just take off your damn armor so I can hurt you!

Unless they worked some sort of split screen or something I would not be interested.

I'm not close to anyone who plays video games abroad (except my fiancees brother in Singapore, but we have very different tastes in games) so unless I can play with my friends and family on the couch i'm not interested.

I support 2 or even maybe 4 or 8 play. If you want to make it balanced(increasing the amount of monsters in the world appropriately for the amount of players+ the health and difficulity of dragons) might require some extra work though.

The way this would work is that one person is the dragonborn and the rest are the people who assist him. So first you choose one persons Save game in some lobby/chat room whatever(Where you get by connecting to one persons IP) and then all of them start where the person has saved.

I think it would be great to have this feature, and it shouldn't possiby require too much extra work. Just multiply all monsters amount by the amount of players and dragons damage&hp the same way(not their numbers, multiple dragons would be awful).

This would probably work best in 2 player mode but I'd probably enjoy watching someone 4 co-op play in youtube as well.

Nah, in a detailed open world game the system requirements would get really bizarre if you multiply them, especially on the consoles

It would not work and it would cause so much rage by long time fans, it will NEVER happen. Mark my words. I will come to where you live and give you everything I own and then proceed to throw myself off the nearest building for your pleasure if I am wrong.

Co-op in Elder scrolls will ****NEVER**** happen.

Did I mention it would take a huge amount of man power and probably 6 months to at least develop a basic co op let alone working out bugs and all sorts of variables.. it's just nonsense to even consider it happening.
