Another TES V Poll!

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:04 am

Well, everyone who has played Morrowind probably thinks this... God the game is great but really, its so old and the gaming mechanics are outdated

That is completely true. I mean, seriously that game was just so godly! But the whole, skills determine whether you hit was just annoying. Like, this guy Gaenor, you attack 50000 times and really you MIGHT hit him twice, if you are lucky. But with Oblivion youd hit most of the time because realistically I dont give a [censored] whether or not you have a hijacked agility, i shot an arrow into your body eight times, and none of them actually hit you, I swung a warhammer right next to you but it just went through your graphically ability.

Well, yeah... You get the point, morrowind game mechanics fail. But that game if it was the same graphics and fighting mechanics as Oblivion it would rock. Like, it would sell better than the Avatar movie.

And, people have done this in the past. For those of you that have heard of the Age of Empires series, it is a tactical war game, and number 1 is going to be remade as number 4. Because as good as it was it was like, 1990 and the bodies were what, 10 pixels? It was failure on an entirely new level. Well atleast for this time.

Now, im not saying I dont want another TES story, but Morrowind was best story I've gotten out of a video game. But the system mechanics made me hate it SO HARD. So I just consoled it...

Now, what about YOU, do YOU want morrowind to be remade?

I don't need a remake of MW, I'm still playing it.
Elements of the MW story and events since then in Morrowind should and probably would affect any TES game set in Skyrim or Argonia. 1 or 2 characters from TES III might appear in TES V (I'm thinking Helseth here) but I wouldn't expect them to have a major role.

It would be good to see TES III: Morrowind brought back to its former glory, But ANYONE who has playe TES will want a new story in a new Area.
I, Personally, would like to see the next game set during a war between 2 regions, eg. Skyrim and Hammerfell.
The player could start off as an unknown character, Same as Morrowind and Oblivion, and could join the ranks of a Nordic or Redoran Army, and help the regions conquest, or defeat.
It would be a good change from the Prophetic destinies (Morrowind) or Tamrialic Crisis (Oblivion) and focus on relations between the regions of Tamrial itself.
...Just putting it out there.

I think remaking Morrowind would be a terrible idea. Of course they would change the game mechanics(which I don't really have a problem with) but as for the story/gameworld it would be entertaining for new players, but for longtime fans, it would just be more of the same. I would want TES:V to take place in another region, maybe one that's mysterious like the Black Marsh or Skyrim. It would be even cooler if you could go anywhere in Tamriel, but I doubt they would do that because it would take waaay too long to make a TES game of that size. As for the game-mechanics themselves, I think whatever Bethesda gives us will be good... unless the mechanics are like Fallout's. Well, Fallout's gameplay mechanics aren't that different from Oblivion and MW, I just hated the way you move and that weird angle the camera is in 3rd person.

And I do agree with BrianC101, it would be cool if the game took place during a war, as long as it doesn't hinder exploration.

Hehe King Helseth was cool, i'd be happy if he made a return as a major part of a quest or something!

I'd prefer not. I enjoy Morrowind's RPG mechanics and combat system compared to Oblivion's "action game" stuff. Daggerfall had a good combat system like Morrowind, too. It's not like Oblivion's combat system or graphics are anything special either compared to other games made for those. My modded Morrowind looks vastly superior to my modded Oblivion, so graphics aren't really an issue enough for a remake anyway. If Morrowind was remade in the current TES timeline rather than the old days pre-4E, then I'd find it rather depressing.

Spoiler
What with Argonians ruling Veloth and all, and Vvardenfell being destroyed, with Port Telvannis being the last bastion of Dunmer strength. Maybe time for a "kill the argonian invaders" action game spinoff?
On the other hand, if TES: V takes place in Skyrim as rumours suggest, maybe the Dunmer on Solstheim will have retreated to Skyrim to settle there, with nowhere else to turn but to their ancient Nord enemies.

But that's just me. :)

Well, Fallout's gameplay mechanics aren't that different from Oblivion and MW, I just hated the way you move and that weird angle the camera is in 3rd person.

The movement is exactly the same, and the camera angle is that way so it's possible to aim with ranged weapons whilst seeing what you're attacking.

Yeah, Helseth was pretty good. Just read "http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:A_Game_at_Dinner".

The chars in Fallout run differently or at least that's what it seemed like to me. And the jumping is terrible imo.

New story. Preferably some terrain we haven't seen yet. I personally would like to see a revamped Elswyr.

Did you have to mention Skyrim? Otherwise I would've voted for another province.

If the remake anything It should be Daggerfall. So many of the TES fans these days don't even know about daggerfall... let alone Arena.

Put Daggerfall on something next gen. Bring back Werebears, adamantium swords, bashing doors down, underwear, banks, the old school Dark brotherhood (who would hunt you down if you didn't join them), climbing castle walls, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, getting pick-pocketed, having your sleep interrupted by enemies, randomly generated dungeons, real daedric cults, and so on and so on.

Daggerfall was a f***kin masterpiece. You could copy and paste the entire narrative and most people wouldn't know. I don't know of anyone that actually played the game through to the end because we all got sidetracked by side quests, glitches, lightsaber hacks, and randomizing guild quests that were never ending. I've been a mac user since the product hit the market in the 80s, but I bought my first PC just so I could play daggerfall. Please remake Daggerfall.

At the very least make the city guards say Halt in TES V. Just saying.

I wouldn't mind seeing the province of Morrowind, but no, I do not want to go back to Vvardenfell. I LOVED Morrowind and it svcked me into The Elder Scrolls, but I would not like to see it remade; at least for a very long time. There's still much of Tamriel unexplored, and I'd like to traverse that before I'd go back to a revamped Vvardenfell.

Also two provinces instead of just one would be awesome, especially with a war going on. Just make sure that I can still traverse between both provinces without some sort of border patrol asking for my papers or killing me based off of my color.

In TES the idea of remakes make no friggin sense at all...Why would you waste time remaking things when you have an entire TES universe to build on? It would be dumb and a complete waste of time they could spend making a new good game.

The Elder Scrolls V would have to take place preferably withing 2 neighbouring regions, eg. Skyrim and Hammerfell, Valenwood and Elsweyr, High Rock and Hammerfell.
We that have played Oblivion have experienced a huge game world full of exploration and freedom available in no other game, and all of us would be very upset if it took place in 1 small region, eg. Valenwood or High Rock.

If you swung your weapon 5000 times and hit him twice in MW (but did full rated damage each time) to kill him, what's the difference between that and hitting him 5000 times in OB and doing 1 point each time, because your skills are pitiful? Both games had annoying combat mechanics, for totally different reasons. In one, your player skills were meaningless and the animations were bad, but at least the outcomes made sense according to your character's abilities; in the other, the character's skills were meaningless and the animations were plainly better, but still extremely limited.

Oblivion had higher resolution graphics, but depicted a relatively "normal" and boring world, in comparison to MW's poorly rendered but artistically more interesting settings.

There are several unvisited provinces that I'd much prefer to visit, rather than remake Morrowind. I'd much prefer to see something new and different, not go back to more of the same old settings (although we'll probably get nothing more than a minor variation of the "same old" Cyrodiil "happy forest, but with more snow", in Skyrim). Besides, the Tamriel Rebuilt group is doing a fine job of creating the entire mainland for Morrowind province, and may eventually have something that's 3-5 times the size of what we got for "all of Cyrodiil", and quite nicely done at that.

I like Morrowind a lot, it was the first Elder Scrolls game I played, and I still play it now. But while there certainly are ways in which it could be improved, I'm not eager to see it remade. I'd rather Bethesda spend their resources on making a new game. There's so much that can still be done with the series, and there's still several provinces that haven't really been explored in depth, Bethesda wouldn't be able to take advantage of this if they just started remaking older games. Sure, Bethesda COULD recreate it with better graphics or gameplay mechanics, but I'd rather Bethesda instead use those graphics and gameplay mechanics to make something I haven't seen before, if they can capture the aspects of Morrowind that I liked which Oblivion did not have, while doing better in areas where the game was lacking, I'll be happy, I don't need the same game.

Congratulations. There were only so many choices you could make and rumors of the next game being called Skyrim have been floating around for well over a year now.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but actually yes I do. This poll was just plain silly to begin with.
