When will Microsoft enter the Handheld market?

You can, but they jack up the prices insanely high -- to $400-700 generally for smartphones

What's the price of a PSP or Nintendo handheld over there?

It's all a conspiracy. Really, MS owns Apple in order to trick the "counterculture" people who use it to "stick it" to MS. Their puppet system was near-foolproof -- if it wasn't for some unsavory pictures where Steve Ballmer forces Steve Jobs to clean his shoes with his tongue that only recently were published on Wikileaks, the truth may have never come out.

All I know is a lie!!!!!

their handheld will just meet the same fate as the zune and possibly like all other handhelds such as the Lynx, NGP, nomad, game.com ect.

(All my opinion based on what I interperet from the facts.)

Seems better left for Nintendo have their little monopoly.

As I see it:

Handhelds- Nintendos only real market.
Consoles- Fiercely dominated by Sony and Microsoft, with Nintendo the underdog in the fight. Nintendo seems more family oriented, where as Sony and Microsoft are marketed mainly to the veral and violence audiences.

The Nintendo Wii has sold about 30 million more units than the XBOX 360 and about 30 million more than the Playstation 3. That's just those three consoles as they are the main ones right now though.

As for a micro-soft handheld, I don't think that's their sort of thing. I think that the sort of games people play on the XBOX would not go well on a hand-held.

So... I need to spend $900+/year for my MS-based handheld gaming platform, or pay $600 at the door....

I didn't say that it was a particularly good handheld platform :P

Not to mention WP7 is prooving to be pretty stagnant water still. MS lost another 1% of their market share.

WP7 has it's advantages, and as far as mobile operating systems go I'd say it's a pretty solid product

I'm just hoping that the next Unity update will contain WP7 support. Don't get me wrong I think that XNA is great for developing indie games but it's a bit inaccessible for developers with little programming experience. Unity can reach a much larger crowd of developers since the only "programming" you need to do when developing an Unity game is a few Javascript scripts.
