Interest in Bethesda on NGP?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:24 pm

PS3 and Wii are my last home consoles, being a gamer since the 2600 - I decided a few years ago that my next gen is only handheld, and NGP looks really attractive to me and will be purchased.

Obviously I want to see Bethesda do somethign on the new platform. I enjoy the console game on the go, am I alone?

Personally I've always wanted an old style TES game on one of the DS consoles. 3DS is the best candidate now. The way Daggerfall and Arena used to play? Absolutley PERFECT for the DS's touchscreen.

Not sure. The NGP is going to be so effing expensive, and honestly it isn't what I'm looking for in a portable gaming device.

If resources were available, I would rather they be put toward switching Redguard to an engine that works with modern hardware and software, and releasing Battlespire.

no, scratch that, if the resources are available, make Skyrim better and make REAL expansion packs, not piddly-diddly DLC.

I'd say, Oh Daggerfall on the PSP would be great! Except you really need the patches to make the game more stable. Battlespire or Redguard for the PSP would be sweet.

Ugh not 3DS please, I get sick looking at the 3D on it. So now that I can't use the most touted feature (glad I only played a friends for a bit) why not go for the better graphically? Not to mention the DS I had was for three things. Contra, Chrono Trigger, and Pokemon. Whenever those come out, I'll look into it. Even then I feel like I'm wasting money not utilizing the 3D. I'll most likely go NGP, but the real selling point is where Monster Hunter portable series goes.

Can't port Daggerfall anywhere. They "lost the source code" remember?

That said, they made quite a few Elder Scrolls Travels games for bloody mobile phones. I don't see why they wouldn't take advantage and make such a thing for proper handheld gaming devices. A new game with a new story, bring it on.

As much as I want the old games to be made accessible, I know Bethesda doesn't care and honestly they shouldn't care.

I think a elder scroll travels game on the ds, ipod or psp would be a great idea, i mean an actual elderscrolls game tho, not a linear dungeon crawl. I also think that touch screen would be a cool way to swing a sword, or draw runes for enchanting or mini games.

Shame they probably won't ever make it :sadvaultboy:

Can't they reverse-engineer from the .exe? You know, do all the stuff that isn't legally allowed for the rest of us?

Aside from that, there's DaggerXL (new engine for Daggerfall). They could throw a few interns Lucius' way to help finish the project. :P

I wouldn't mind a TES travels/adventure for the main platforms either. A remake of Battlespire would be cool.

The NGP, I haven't heard much about it, but SUPPOSEDLY it will be close to the PS3 in graphical capabilities. If so, I reckon even Skyrim would be a good port for it (with a few minor graphical reductions). They could put Oblivion on it easily, I'm sure, or Morrowind. The fact that it uses cards instead of discs means they wouldn't have to worry about the size of the games.
