Brinks New release date Question

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:23 pm

Ok in resent developments Brink has been moved up to release on May 10th(US) and May 13th(EUR)... so what does this mean for the people who have pre-ordered from an online site such as Walmart.com. Will those people be notified? should they be expecting to get their copy on the 10th? what if I had paid the extra for 1 day shipping in realization of getting the game 1 day earlier, will I now be getting my copy on the 9th? or is this a matter we should talk about with Walmart's customer service?

All websites have been updated to the 10th. I've checked. Also, you'll be getting yours either on the 10th or 11th with 1-day shipping, not the 9th.

What Jorrrg said. As far as I can tell, the major retailer's dates have been corrected to the 10th or 13th.

Strangely, Amazon isn't offering "Release-Day Shipping" for Brink yet. They are offering overnight / 1-day shipping, but that puts the game in your hands on the 11th....

My copy's on Steam, though, so hopefully they'll let us pre-load the game beforehand. Don't know if it'll be unlocked at midnight or noon, though.

But it said I would be getting it on the 16th back when the date was the 17th, so would it not be the same concept?
Technically the game will be sent to the stores 1 day before it hits shelves, so they can stock it and set up for the release date.
So why not send it to me when they get it or have it shipped straight from the factory? I mean, I am paying extra for 1st dibs on this game it
shouldn't matter where it comes from but technically they should send it to you the moment it comes in stock
i tell you this tho i will be pretty pissed off it i dont get it before or on the 10th

Sorry man, but I don't think they would let you get the game before the 10th. Game developers (usually) want to put the game in everybody's hands on the same day -- that way, nobody feels like someone else got their copy sooner through unfair means.

But like i said im going thru walmart and sense they get the game a day or so early, just like bestbuy and gamestop, so that they can stock it, wouldnt they send it when they get it? it only makes sense...
IDK i just think if im paying 15$ for shipping I deserve to get it a day early because Walmart guarantees pre-order games to arrive at your house on the release day no matter what it should be getting here no later then the 10th. so what would be the point of paying for anything other then standard shipping at only 97cents sense 2-3day shipping is like 5$ and still the game will get here the 10th and what would be the point of paying 15$ for 1day shipping if its still getting here the 10th? so wouldnt it make sense to pay 15$ to get the game 1 day early? if not then i need to have a word with a Walmart representative or just change my ordering info lol ...and then let walmart know what i think later lol

but look when the game was dated to may 17th the Walmart site said, in my checkout, that it would be getting here at my house on the 16th.

They obviously lied to you. Is it even legal to ship something to a customer before it releases to the general public?

like i said, then why would walmart say i'll be getting the game a day early and why would 1day shipping cost 15$? technically it wouldnt be unfair just someone realizing that walmart has a sweet deal pay 15$ get the game 1day early... i felt the same way you do in a sense i was thinking more along the lines of law suits or something but still. ok why would the Walmart site say i'd be getting it early and allow me to choose a shipment method? especially sense Walmart guarantees the game to get here no later then the day it is released... maybe i'll just wait and see what happens and if I dont get it on the 9th(16th) like the site says then ima be calling Walmart, maybe i'll see about getting all my cash back lol

...well walmart site still says 16th its still not updated from 17th to 10th yet im sure when it updates if they dont fix it, its going to say im getting it the 9th... idc weather or not i get the game a day early honestly, i just thought 15$ to get it the 16th instead of 17th thats cool ill do that 15$ isnt a big deal to me but if im not getting the game early then technically Walmart is stealing from me or trying to and thats a big deal to me id rather spend money and get my worth from it, not get jipd so im just going to change it to standard shipping... cuz i really dont wanna cause [censored] with walmart altho this would be a winning case if i went thru with it and they didnt get it to me on the said date...

Maybe it means they will start to ship it to you the day before but it wont arrive until the 10th.

see thats what i was thinking and your probably right... if anything Walmart will update this and fix it before the game releases if not alot of people will be pretty pissed when they dont get Brink the day before it hits shelves... i think im just goin to play it safe and get standard shipping. i'd rather save 15$ then take a chance where i could either win (early released game ill be getting the very next day) or lose (15$ for falling for a scam) weighing the options the chance is not that great, either way i'll be getting Brink the day it releases or so Walmart says. whats 1 more day of waiting... just another day lol

no it clearly states its the date it will be here at my house, its odd... i know.
and like i said its still stuck on it being released the 17th or the 16th for me lol
if it changes idk and dont care as long as i get it no later then the 10th ima be happy im just not paying for 1day shipping now lol

I am slightly confused with the whole thing, i know it has changed for the 13th in Europe but if i look up brink on www.game.co.uk it still says released on the 20th? I assume this will change before release because i really want to pre-order but i don't want to pre-order and then end up having to wait till the 20th for the game to come to my house because they think it doesn't come out till then.

It's a case by case thing, with the retailer and game publisher. Walmart had struck a deal to be able to send the game a day early to customers who opted for it. Most retailers get copies of a game usually a week before release date on average. You always hear stories of somebody being able to get a store bought copy a few days before an actual release.

btw. if you didnt know. release date shipping means you get the game on just that. the release date. not early. that would be illegal. the stores dont set the release dates. the makers of the game do.
1 day shipping means you get it the day after the release date (im ordering from amazon so 1 day shipping is all i get) which is fine by me because. really. how much of an advantage is less than a day of play time gonna give the release date people.
so ya. either walmart was lying to you, there was a glitch in the system ( yes these things do happen) or you read the shipping info wrong. it was prob. the third. no offense to you, but if it was advertized that walmart was releasing the game a day erlier than it should be. a lot of people would have already been posting about it and freaking out.

Hello, your still confused.
If you get 1 DAY SHIPPING, you get the game 1 DAY AFTER the release of the game.

Only RELEASE DAY SHIPPING, and i repeat RELEASE DAY SHIPPING will net you the game on the day of its release. probably later on in the afternoon.

THERE IS NO LEGITIMATE WAY TO GET A GAME BEFORE RELEASE DATE FROM A STORE.

I'm glad I'm choosing to pick it up from the store instead of having my pre-order sent to me. Never know how the mail will turn out.
And I'm hoping like with my previous pre-orders, that GameStop gets them in early so I can have my copy before the game goes live.

Now as for Walmart, its really all about putting your trust in them. I mean theres nothing else you can really do but call regularly asking about the shipment.
Also, you might be able to get tracking info so you can type it into the cargo holder's website to see where it stopped at last, and what time.

Hope that helps a little bit. If you already knew, and tried it to no avail... then just cancel your pre-order from them and do what I did. A lot less to worry about.
You could also tell them to not ship it to you, and instead pick it up when it comes in a day or two before launch. :)

Edit: Deathshroud09, yes there is.

na i talked to Walmart customer support awhile back the 1 day shipping option is basically a glitch because Walmart.com promises that new games will arrive the day they are released (unless under unforeseen circumstances) so yes i should be getting my copy on the 10th
