Lich?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:42 pm

This thread amuses me.

On a more serious note, it's never been impossible to become a lich. Certainly, the very fact that liches exist means that people, somehow did it. Why not your player? It'd just be another evil transformation option like being a vampire or a werewolf. However, being a vampiric werewolf lich is just absurd. You should only get to choose one :P

Werewolves and vampires are not evil. Maybe a Lich is evil if we go by western perspective on what os wrong and evil. But I do agree. Being a Lich would be great. Whatever would make me more than a normal hero saving the world I could care less about makes me happy.

I'm not sure that the ability to become a lich would really add that much to the game.

On the other hand, that joke would be hilarious.

Ok lets suppose you have become a lich, now what? How you will interact with anybody? What you will do as a lich?
I mean, vampires and werewolves can live "normal life " but liches...

Oh yes, I would just LOVE being a floating corpse that gets attacked by everybody because I'd be a crime against nature.

I used to have a lich mod for Oblivion that gave you a greater power called "Disguise True Nature" or something to that effect that let you disguise your true form and interact with people normally for two minutes once a day. They could do something like that.

Well, at least M'aiq's honest about it.

Wait, what?

Actually, in most lore liches are in, their appearance is due to being undead for centuries/millenia. They would probably look perfectly normal at first, so turning into a lich doesn't even need to change your character's appearance.

This still leaves the problem of why you would become a lich in the first place. Supposedly, a lich is an old, powerful mage, who uses necromancy as a substitute for immortality. Since it's highly unlikely anyone will play long enough for this to become relevant, what would be the point?

Because your character wants to become immortal, of course.

Of course I don't expect to be playing my character for thousands of years, but maybe they want to last that long anyways.

So, what you're saying is, becoming a lich does nothing.

Okay, I can live with that. Shouldn't be hard for Bethesda to implement.

When did I say that? I'm just saying that they don't need to change your appearance drastically.

Of course I'd expect being a lich (if implemented) to have some benefits/drawbacks, have some quests to do, etc.

That was my point. What kind of benefits or drawbacks would becoming a lich give you?

It could be any number of things. Skill boosts/extra perks in magic skills, skill penalties in combat/stealth skills, weakness to fire/turn undead, disposition loss with regular NPCs (you don't need to look like a dessicated corpse, but I imagine you'd give off a creepy vibe, at least), extra lesser and greater powers. Basically, the same stuff they did with vampires and werewolves, just with a more magical-based theme.

In fact, if they really wanted, they could implement all three. Make werewolves for combat-based characters, liches for magicka-based and vampires for stealth-based.

Even if they didn't do it in the regular game, it could be in an expansion...Wrath of The Lich King. Oh...wait...

On topic, this idea actually seems pretty interesting.

"In fact, if they really wanted, they could implement all three. Make werewolves for combat-based characters, liches for magicka-based and vampires for stealth-based. "

Best idea here, one of the best reasons to implement them.

M'aiq is no liar.

Wait.

M'aiq knows all but only tells some. Who wouldve guessed that the mudcrabs had actually taken Pelagiad? How else do you think black marsh was able to gain a foothold on vvardenfel?

Remember, he said there were dragons, but most are up in the sky. The ones closer to the ground are invisible...And what did the teaser trailer show? A dragon, bursting out of a hiding place that renderd it invisible, a stone bas-relief, an aspect of the "ground."

M'aiq knows much indeed. I hear he's being canonized along with Saint Jiub.

ya know i wouldnt really care i think it is just cool to be an undead skeletal cloaked player with immense mana and arcane power someone that truly stands out from all the other possible players, something dark and sinister. as for the floating thing, dont really care for that but as a body effect say from equiping a staff sure that would be cool but just a cloaked and hooded evil looking skeletal lich would be my only character i would like to play just because thats all i really like to play in a fantasy game, seems more interesting and fun, of course after the game is completed so i can acquire all the special items and such in the game and provided that the lich has ''conceal true nature'' spell so i can still interact with society and complete miniscule quests still then im 100% and more for the game feature it would be my bread and butter since i always roleplay as dark mages
