Toggelable hoods

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:52 pm

The idea behind it is a lot more simple than most might think.

I think Fable 2 had a similar feature where you could put on a coat and toggle between it being open or buttoned up. It's pretty simple to do so I don't see why it shouldn't be implemented.

I believe developers will not do toggelable hoods, small details mostly ignored by them, modders still can do toggelable hoods

The only reason I wouldn't want hoods to be toggleable would be so I could put a separate enchantment on my hood. But other than that I vote yey

Would be a cool feature. If you could set it on automatic to. Say when it starts raining or your character goes into stealth he will automatically pull his hood up.

it would also be cool if talking to NPCs with your hood up lowered their disposition

Would be neat but since it's only an aesthetic thing it probably won't be done because they'll want to spend their development time doing some that you know.....matters, like balancing combat and stuff more important to good game-play. But if they find themselves with an opportunity to do so why not?

Had it in Daggerfall, and wish they kept it in MW and OB. So yes, I would like robes and cloaks to have toggable hoods, if the robes and cloaks have hoods to begin with. And the hoods should be able to go over hats.

I agree with Ol' Hellmouth here. It's a small feature that would be greatly appreciated. Honestly, I would much rather see cloaks and robes with hoods instead of just hoods. It always felt a little off in Oblivion to just put on a hood.

i thought this was kind of neat in Daggerfall but i don't really care, honestly. i mean unless there's some mechanism in place where wearing a hood makes people not know who you are on sight, letting you enter hostile settlements unmolested, i don't see the point beyond some weird LARP thing.

honestly i'm more curious as to whether they'll add a face-covering animation when facing blizzards like they did in Morrowind.

I'm curious where this "I want to push my hood back" thing even came from. Is it an Assassin's Creed thing? (I'm not aware of any other "hood-centric" media these days, so that's just a guess....)

I personally don't care. Seems like alot of trouble to go through for such a small feature, though. /shrug

(Oh, and I see a number of people who seem to be talking about the option to show items as on or off, like open or closed coats. Note that there's a difference between an option to show or hide your helm/whatever via a checkbox, and making a full system that animates doing when you walk inside/outside/etc.)

I think it would be kinda nice to be able to pull the hood up on a cloak or something if it starts raining or snowing. It wouldn't be a game-breaker if I couldn't but it would be something I would like to see.

Hell yeah! I love this idea, I've always hated the way you'd walk into a tavern and keep your hood on, it didn't seem like a natural thing to do.

Skyrim will be cold you need a hood to keep ur ears from frost bite lol.

In everquest 2 you can type /showhelm which could be a good idea with an option in the inventory window, it alowed you to be able to get all the beneficial effects from it but also see the face/hair asif you weren't wearing it. you down want to be walking around town asif you were in battle.

[censored] LOVE MY HOODS IN TES.

So Yes, I would love to see a toggle option to have them up/down. Dont care for the animation, something like fable did with their hoods.

Hmm, I guess it's just a fashion thing that's never really hit me. I spend time picking faces/hair/etc, so any game that gives me the option to get rid of head coverings entirely, I take it. :)

(One of my favorite Obliv mods back in the day was the armored circlets mod - it gave a set of unobtrusive circlets/tiaras/crowns equivalent to each normal helmet. So you could have a basically bare head, and not give up the armor & enchant slot.)

Then keep the hood up. They won't be taken out of the game, just given an option to put it up or down.

I have the same option in real life with the hoody i'm wearing.
