Wrong language.

I've had this problem for awhile, but now it's starting to bug me. Whenever I'm traveling into a popular area (the arcane university for example) the "door to..." is listed in foreign illegible letters, as if it was supposed to be in another language. So if i'm in going to the arcane university, a door would say something like "door to a^ae;ljae.,;skdfhabsl;dfkjas" the door to anvil from the gold coast says "door to aieee" I think this was caused because from installing a mod in another language, but i'm not sure. I've tried deactivating and reactivating some mods I believed to be foreign but not much has helped. I remember reading a solution to this a few years ago but I can't seem to remember what it was, or where i read it from. Does anyone know how to restore the cities to their original (english?) names? thanks for any help.

You can use TES4Edit to compare installed mods. Load all currently activated mods to TES4Edit, then look at each cell every mods change. I think you installed some Russian mod(there're patterns of broken letters depending on what language the mod uses). If the file name has -ru or -rus, it would be easy to find out, but if not, you have to use tool like TES4Edit to find out.

Yes, TES4Edit is excellent when checking out issues like this. FormID Finder or RefScope should work as well - check a "translated door" and see which mod it is that is affecting it. Sometimes a really small mod can do this - say one adding a single sword or something - if it's made with a translated Oblivion and not cleaned afterwards. At least I think that is what happens.

What was it? Might be helpful for others getting the same issue.
