Tax Refund

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 2:06 pm

So I filed on April 16th and have it set up for direct deposit. I went to the IRS site and it says my fund was deposited on Friday and if it doesn't show by May 4th to contact the bank. I called Friday anyway and my bank says they show nothing so far. I called tonight and still nothing. If the IRS site says the direct deposit was sent on Friday should it still not be showing? Please any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm curious how long a direct deposit can take to show up because it is a "direct" deposit.

Your bank is open on Sunday night?

From my general experience with banks, anything posted on a Friday later in the day usually rolls over to Monday.

No I called the automated line to check my account a little while ago. I talked to a live person friday.

if they say something like "expect it by" or "it should arrive before" then the date they give is usually the date that it will be completed

Ok cool. I just thought it was weird the IRS website said the direct deposit was submitted Friday. Didn't think it would take so long to hit my account.

As has been said already, generally banks won't show new funds in your account until the next business day (and sometimes it takes longer than that). Just be patient, and if it hasn't been deposited in your account by 4th, then contact them.

It was a fricken Sunday last night, and you were told by May 4th. It's now May 2nd, and this was over a weekend. No deposits go through on a Sunday, and rarely do they go through on a Saturday when involving the IRS. I know you want your money but actually wait until the 4th comes and goes maybe before getting worried?

It should be there ON the fourth, if that's what they say.

Heh..
Guess not everyone knows the ins and outs of their bank.
I usually get direct deposits around midnight.

What [censored] bank?

Wait until May 4th comes and goes without sign of your refund and then contact the bank again, is all I can say.

Usually the IRS' estimates for these sorts of things are spot on the money, at least with my bank. They said I'd get my refund on the 4th of March, and that's when I got it...although it hung around in my "pending transactions" list for several days before that and didn't show as cleared until the 4th on the dot. (Not sure about your bank, but mine lets me see what transactions I have pending for all my accounts online. If yours does, you could try checking that and see if it shows up there.)

Also: the IRS does refunds every Friday. Depending on circumstances, your refund might not have initiated until late in the day on Friday. Absolutely no transactions are going to be processed on the weekend. It's very early in the business day yet (at least where I am) on Monday, so it's likely it hasn't been processed yet, or is just starting to process. I know you want your refund, but do be patient. :) Try checking your account after noon today, or maybe even tomorrow morning.

Also also: keep in mind that you filed your return near the end of tax season, and a lot of people likely did the same. It may take longer than usual for everyone's refunds to process through completely.

Thanks for the feedback. What worries me is my bank isn't even showing a pending deposit.

But it's still not the 4th, right?

Have some nice calming tea and relax a bit

Haha will do. I'm just antsy right now. It would be so nice if this money hits my account.

Last minute tax person I see. I've already had my refunds since the first week of February and yes, it feels damn good when that money shows up. :P

You are told to wait until the 4th of May and you are complaining? What is next? You are going to say that Skyrim hasn't been released yet even though they said it was 11/11/11?

Come one you still have 2 days before you start complaining.

Well it said it was submitted on Friday and if it's not there by the 4th to contact the IRS hotline. Just thought my bank would at least be showing a pending deposit by now.
