As I've posted many times on this forum, I'm a huge fan of JG Thirlwell, who was first famous for his rock project, Foetus, but has done a lot of soundtracks and other instrumental-based music under various guises. His 'sound' is overall closest to Michael Giacchino, I think. Here are a few of his projects:
http://youtu.be/Yhs7WnqXUBM. A hugely eclectic mix of styles from spy-noir, jazz funk and drum 'n' bass through to Stravinskyesque classical, this is a medley of a few of the tracks, performed in New York last summer by Thirlwell's Steroid Maximus.

Steroid Maximus

http://youtu.be/otu3A1Efd_k. One of the many hundreds of remixes he's done for acts as diverse as NIN, Pantera, Swans and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is firmly in the 'dance music' spectrum, but it's absolutely brutal. I love it!
