Controls (Console) Quick Turn & Lean

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:00 pm

Hey,

So one thing that I thought of with respect to console controls was two features we had back in the day with Rtcw for the xbox. I know SD has said we have fully customizable controls, so I'm hopeful.

1. Quick Turn

Back in the day, Rtcw did not have autoaim like most games of today. Instead it featured the ability to quick turn. You would set your primary sensitivty to something that was confortable for head on batttles, and if you were flanked or started taking hits from a direction which would normally take to long to look at with a controller, you could click down on the right thumbstick and your sensitivity would be increased so that you could swing in that direction, release the button and procede as usual. This was a very handy feature for fps on a console. Was wondering if anyone has heard of this feature coming back at all, or if maybee this is what the aim acceleration is attempting to accomplish?..

2. Lean

Now, not sure if this is in game or not (could have sworn I read somewhere that it is) but if it is, how is it mapped and mappable to the controller. Back in Rtcw, you could click in the left thumbstick and then tilt it left or right to lean left or right. This was also a very handy and useful control feature.

If anyone has information on these two tidbits on control features, let me know. Thanks.

Also, 4 sleeps left!!!

In the case of lean, it is in the game. If you watch the unboxing video around here, you see it in the controls. Left Trigger and L/R on dpad. Not sure about quick turn.

Edit: Looking again there is nothing about quick turn on the controls page of the manual.

I saw leaning in some videos but they were pretty old, havent heard a thing about quick turn.
Hope the leaning doesnt attract campers, would be a shame.

As long as the enemy can see you, then it should be alright. I remember back in Rtcw, it was cheap as you cook cook a nade while leaning, enemy couldn't see you could gib'em 100% of the time. As long as your at least partialy visible while leaning, should be ok.

good point, hope they dont have glitches like that..
I've played one game a few years ago, where when you tilted the mouse somehow, the enemy couldnt see you and you could look through the corner, really weird.. It was kinda nice game but that ruined it for the most part. ):

Source? Was it the unboxing, cause I noticed no mention of it. Maybee the aim acceleration is meant as a substitute..?
